Commanders' Jayden Daniels: Out for Week 3, set for more tests
Commanders head coach Dan Quinn confirmed that Daniels will be out for Sunday's game against the Seahawks, but the quarterback remains without a precise timeline for a return while he continues to receive more medical opinions on his left elbow injury, Ben Standig of The Team 980 Washington D.C. reports.
Per Zach Selby of the Commanders' official site, Daniels is set to meet with another arm specialist Wednesday, and the team isn't expected to provide a formal timeline until the quarterback concludes the information-gathering process for his dislocated left elbow. Marcus Mariota will direct the Washington offense in Week 3, and he could be in line for additional starts beyond that if Daniels needs more extended time to recover from his injury. After dislocating the same elbow last November, Daniels missed four weeks, then was shut down for the season after aggravating the injury in his first game back in action.

Commanders' Jayden Daniels: Undergoes more testing Monday
Daniels (elbow) underwent imaging Monday and will consult with multiple experts over the next few days, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Daniels undergoing further testing Monday was already a given, so there isn't much clarity coming out of Sunday's game in which Daniels suffered a dislocated left elbow. He remains without a timetable for return, and Marcus Mariota is fully expected to make the start Sunday against the Seahawks. Washington pass catchers Terry McLaurin and Stefon Diggs both will take slight hits to their fantasy outlooks going from Daniels to Mariota.

Commanders' Jayden Daniels: Carted off field after arm injury
Daniels was carted off the field at the conclusion of the first half of Sundays' game against Dallas due to a left arm injury, Tashan Reed of The Washington Post reports.
Daniels stumbled while taking the snap on the final play of the first half, and his left arm bent awkwardly while he was trying to catch himself from falling on the field. It's the same arm in which he suffered a dislocated elbow last season, and he's been carted to the locker room to undergo further tests. Assuming Daniels doesn't return, Marcus Mariota will take over under center for the Commanders, with rookie seventh-rounder Athan Kaliakmanis (coach's decision) serving as the team's emergency third quarterback.

Commanders' Jayden Daniels: Coach confirms elbow dislocation
Daniels (elbow) suffered a dislocated left elbow but isn't dealing with a fracture, head coach Dan Quinn revealed after Sunday's 37-20 loss to the Cowboys, Tashan Reed of the Washington Post reports.
Daniels' injury is to the same left elbow that he dislocated in Week 9 of the 2025 season, which sidelined him for the next three games. He was hurt on the final play of the first half during Sunday's loss to Dallas and promptly ruled out for the remainder of the game. Daniels' arm bent at an awkward angle as he tried to brace himself while falling. Marcus Mariota threw for 111 yards and a touchdown after Daniels' exit, and Mariota is likely to start for the Commanders in Week 3 against the Seahawks.
