  • Bryce Petty QB | MIA

    Jets' Bryce Petty: Inactive Thursday

Petty (shoulder) is listed as inactive Thursday at Buffalo.

Petty suffered a bruised shoulder in the preseason finale, which has far resulted in inactive status for the first two legs of the regular season slate. Even when handed a clean bill of health, he's unlikely to suit up, with quarterbacks Ryan Fitzpatrick and Geno Smith in front of Petty on the depth chart, barring an injury to one or both parties.

  • Cardale Jones QB | LAC

Bills' Cardale Jones: Inactive for Thursday

Jones (shoulder) is inactive for Thursday night's game against the Jets.

Jones' shoulder is getting better to the point where he's practicing again, but the team will choose to suit up just two quarterbacks in this one and maybe for the time being. In other words, Jones may end up being a healthy inactive a number of times this season.

  • Russell Wilson QB | NYG

Seahawks' Russell Wilson: Will 'be ready to roll' in Week 2

Wilson (ankle) expects to "be ready to roll" Sunday at Los Angeles, Sheil Kapadia of ESPN.com reports.

Immediately after sustaining an ankle sprain in Week 1, Wilson's right foot was contained within a walking boot, but he ditched it Monday. In the meantime, he's undertaken a rigorous rehab effort, which according to Wilson has resulted in just six total hours of sleep this week. If the rest of Week 2 prep is dominated by full practices, he should be able to accomplish what both he and the Seahawks' coaching staff expect of him: active status this weekend.

Seahawks' Russell Wilson: Full practice Wednesday

Wilson (ankle) was a full participant at Wednesday's practice, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports. "Right now, we're expecting him to be full go," offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell told Sheil Kapadia of ESPN.com. "And I don't think he has any different thoughts than that. He's amazing in his preparation. He's probably not even sleeping with all the rehab that he's doing. And I expect him to be ready to go."

After participating in all drills in the open portion of practice -- according to Curtis Crabtree of Sports Radio KJR -- it was certainly plausible that Wilson would log a full showing. With the Wilson mystery all but solved after the first practice of Week 2 prep, one question remains: will his noted mobility allow him to sidestep Rams defenders this Sunday? Perhaps the Seahawks will rely more on newly-installed starting running back Thomas Rawls, but Wilson is nonetheless on pace to be under center, as he has been in every game of his four-plus seasons as a professional.

  • Sam Bradford QB | MIN

Vikings' Sam Bradford: Vikings won't name starting QB until Sunday

Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer said he would not announce a starting quarterback for this week's game against Green Bay until Sunday. However, Bradford took all the first-team snaps at practice Wednesday according to St. Paul Pioneer Press columnist Charley Walters.

Shaun Hill and Bradford split snaps last week in practice with Hill getting the start because Bradford had only a week to prepare after his trade from the Eagles. It seems likely the Vikings would give Bradford the start in Week 2 after paying a high price to acquire him. However, Hill's winning performance and Bradford's limited time to prepare may give the Vikings reason to pause and consider Hill for another week.

  • Russell Wilson QB | NYG

Seahawks' Russell Wilson: Slated to practice Wednesday

Wilson (ankle) completed the Seahawks' walkthough and is slated to practice Wednesday, Curtis Crabtree of Sports Radio KJR reports.

As if there were any doubt, Wilson will tough out the sprained ankle sustained in Week 1, but it wouldn't surprise if his activity level was somewhat limited in order to avoid any type of setback. The impending release of Wednesday's injury report will impart the current state of Wilson's health.

  • Jared Goff QB | DET

Rams' Jared Goff: Could be promoted to backup role

Goff could be promoted to the backup role for Sunday's game against Seattle, ESPN.com reports.

A healthy scratch Monday in San Francisco, the No. 1 overall draft pick may get a quick promotion, but it has nothing to do with Case Keenum's putrid Week 1 performance. The Rams merely wanted Goff to experience his first NFL game without the pressure of possibly playing, so the team went with Sean Mannion as the No. 2 quarterback. Head coach Jeff Fisher said Keenum's performance won't have any impact on the timeline for Goff's development, but Fisher could change his tune if Keenum doesn't at least display a modicum of competence in the next few weeks.

  • Cardale Jones QB | LAC

Bills' Cardale Jones: Shoulder issues subsiding

Jones (shoulder) is listed as a limited participant for the third straight day Wednesday (the Bills had a walkthrough) and is questionable for Thursday's game against the Jets, ESPN's Mike Rodak reports.

Jones might not even suit up even if he's almost healthy, as the two quarterbacks in front of him -- Tyrod Taylor and EJ Manuel -- are both in good shape. This is simply a year of learning for the rookie from Ohio State.

  • Case Keenum QB | CHI

Rams' Case Keenum: Remains Rams starting QB

Keenum will remain the Rams' starting quarterback, Conor Orr of NFL.com reports. "That is correct," head coach Jeff Fisher said about the QB situation Monday. "I'll adjust, but I expect it to continue."

After a dreadful performance in Monday's season-opening loss at San Francisco, Keenum has seemingly been given a vote of confidence from Fisher. Keenum will have to find a modicum of consistency in order to give opposing defenses the threat of a passing attack, which would open lanes for standout running back Todd Gurley. At the moment, Fisher doesn't seem inclined to hand the reins of the offense to 2016 No. 1 pick Jared Goff, but if Keenum were to continue to falter under center, Sean Mannion is the next man up at quarterback.

  • Russell Wilson QB | NYG

Seahawks' Russell Wilson: Expected to play through ankle injury

The Seahawks are confident Wilson (ankle) can play through his injury, Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reports.

While his mobility will likely be quite limited, Wilson is expected to participate in Wednesday's practice in some capacity, setting him up to play Sunday against Los Angeles. The Seahawks have thus far opted not to sign a veteran quarterback, merely adding Jake Heaps to the practice squad as of Tuesday afternoon. Wilson avoided structural damage and hasn't been wearing a boot on his injured ankle.
