Shane Buechele QB | BUF
Shane Buechele: Rejoins Bills' practice squad
Buffalo signed Buechele to the practice squad Wednesday.
Buechele spent the majority of the 2025 regular season on the Bills' practice squad, and he now returns to the unit as Buffalo prepares to begin the postseason with a wild-card round matchup against Jacksonville on Sunday. Due to being poached by Kansas City late December, Buechele got an opportunity to play the second half of the Chiefs' regular-season finale against the Raiders in Week 18, in which he completed seven of 14 passes for 88 yards while rushing once for four yards. He served as Kansas City's backup quarterback for the final two games of the regular season.

Malik Willis QB | GB
Packers' Malik Willis: Limited Tuesday
Willis (right shoulder/hamstring) was a limited participant in Tuesday's walkthrough practice.
Willis was inactive for the Packers' Week 18 loss to the Vikings while he managed his pair of injuries, but head coach Matt LaFleur said prior to Tuesday's practice that he expects the fourth-year quarterback to be available for Saturday's wild-card game against the Bears, per Ryan Wood of USA Today. However, after starting in the Packers' Week 17 loss to the Ravens, Willis will return to a backup role after LaFleur confirmed that Jordan Love would return to the starting role as Green Bay opens its postseason. As such, Willis will have two more chances to upgrade his activity level at practice and avoid taking a designation into Saturday. Desmond Ridder is also available as a third option at quarterback for the Packers, while the team cut Clayton Tune after his Week 18 spot start.

Dillon Gabriel QB | CLE
Browns' Dillon Gabriel: Future uncertain
Gabriel completed 59.5 percent of his passes for 937 yards and seven touchdowns with two interceptions over 10 games in 2025.
Gabriel, a third-round pick in 2025, was part of the Browns' quarterback carousel during his rookie season. He was thrust into the spotlight when he took over for Joe Flacco in Week 5 and went 1-5 as a starter. His tenure was marked by short passes, as Gabriel averaged a league-low among qualified quarterbacks with 5.1 yards per attempt. He often looked out of his depth and was eventually replaced by Shedeur Sanders for the final seven games of the season. All three quarterbacks were hamstrung by an unexciting group of wideouts. Following the end of the regular season, the organization fired head coach Kevin Stefanski -- but curiously retained general manager Andrew Berry -- which leaves Gabriel's future with the team uncertain. A new coach will certainly want to address Cleveland's glaring need for a starting quarterback and possibly backups.

Jameis Winston QB | NYG
Giants' Jameis Winston: Used sparingly in 2025-26
Winston completed 37 of 66 pass attempts for 567 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions over three games during the 2025-26 regular season. He added seven rushes for 23 yards and a touchdown.
Winston signed with New York in March, but the team then inked Russell Wilson a few days later and drafted Jaxson Dart in April's NFL Draft, reducing the significance of Winston's signing considerably. The veteran QB did end up making a pair of starts after Wilson was demoted and Dart was sidelined by a concussion, but Winston didn't do much to impress as a passer in those opportunities, and he completed the campaign in a backup role. Winston's contract was a two-year deal, so he could return as Dart's backup next season.

Mitch Trubisky QB | BUF
Bills' Mitchell Trubisky: Leads backups to victory in Week 18
Trubisky completed 22 of 29 passes for 259 yards and four touchdowns during Sunday's 35-8 win over the Jets. He also rushed five times for five yards.
He took over after Josh Allen was under center for the first snap to keep his streak of 135 consecutive starts intact. Trubisky led Buffalo's offense effortlessly against an outmatched New York defense, turning in one of the best statistical performances of his nine-year NFL career. He'll revert to a backup role beginning with Sunday's wild-card round matchup against the Jaguars. Trubisky concludes the regular season having completed 25 of 35 pass attempts for 313 yards and four touchdowns, while rushing nine times for six yards, over four appearances.

Clayton Tune QB | GB
Clayton Tune: Cut after Week 18 start
The Packers cut Tune on Tuesday.
After being locked into the No. 7 seed in the NFC playoffs heading into Week 18, the Packers opted to make normal starter Jordan Love active in a backup role for the regular-season finale, while No. 2 quarterback Malik Willis (shoulder/hamstring) was inactive. As a result, the Packers turned to Tune to make a spot start this past Sunday, with the 26-year-old attempting just 11 passes as Green Bay rolled out a conservative game plan in a 16-3 loss to the Vikings. Both Love and Willis are on track to be available for Saturday's wild-card game in Chicago, and the Packers have now opted to part ways with Tune. Green Bay will still keep a third quarterback on its roster for the playoffs, however, as Desmond Ridder was signed off the practice squad in a corresponding move. Over his two appearances for Green Bay, Tune completed just seven of 15 passes for 42 yards and an interception while carrying five times for 23 yards.

Jordan Love QB | GB
Packers' Jordan Love: Confirmed for wild-card start
Packers head coach Matt LaFleur confirmed that Love will serve as the team's starting quarterback in Saturday's wild-card game in Chicago, Matt Schneidman of The Athletic reports.
After sustaining a concussion in Week 16, Love missed a Week 17 loss to the Ravens and served as the backup to third-string quarterback Clayton Tune in the regular-season finale despite clearing the league's protocol, with nothing on the line for the Packers. According to Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com, LaFleur noted that Love still got in a "mostly normal amount of practice work" last week. The QB will benefit from another full week of practice leading up to Saturday's contest and will be aided by the expected return of right tackle Zach Tom (back), who should be available to play against the Bears after missing the Packers' final three games of the regular season, per Schneidman.

Kirk Cousins QB | ATL
Falcons' Kirk Cousins: Reworks contract with Atlanta
Cousins agreed Tuesday to restructure the final two seasons of his four-year, $180 million contract, Field Yates of ESPN.com reports.
As part of the restructure, Cousins agreed to reduce his base salary for the 2026 season from a non-guaranteed $35 million to $2.1 million, but the amended deal doesn't necessarily mean that the veteran quarterback will stick around with Atlanta through the upcoming season. Cousins is still guaranteed $67.9 million for the 2027 season, with that money scheduled to vest March 13, the third day of the new league year. Given that Atlanta would have no interest in being tied to Cousins at that amount of money in 2027, the 37-year-old signal-caller may have to agree to another restructure in order to avoid being designated for a post-June 1 release. After opening the 2025 season in a backup role, Cousins reclaimed the starting job for the Falcons' final seven games after Michael Penix (knee) tore his ACL in Week 11. In his 10 total appearances, Cousins completed 166 of 269 pass attempts (61.7 percent) for 1,721 yards, 10 touchdowns and five interceptions while tacking on a rushing touchdown.

Tua Tagovailoa QB | MIA
Dolphins' Tua Tagovailoa: Future in Miami uncertain
Tagovailoa said Monday, in the wake of Miami's season finale loss to the Patriots, that it "would be dope" to get a fresh start with another team during the 2026 season, Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN reports.
Tagovailoa didn't go as far as stating that he plans to request a trade, but he said he "would be good with it" if he were to play elsewhere in 2026. Head coach Mike McDaniel said the Dolphins will host a quarterback competition in 2026 and left the door open for rookie Quinn Ewers (knee) to start, but he declined to comment on Tagovailoa being benched in Week 16. Across 14 regular-season appearances, Tagovailoa completed 260 of 384 pass attempts for 2,660 yards, 20 touchdowns and 15 interceptions, while adding 43 yards on 20 carries and fumbling eight times. He led the NFL in INTs at the time of his benching. After having inked him to a four-year, $212.4 million contract in July of 2024, Miami would face a $99.2 million cap hit in 2026 by cutting Tagovailoa before June 1, while releasing him after that date would spread the cap hit across the next two seasons. Given Tagovailoa's salary, finding a trade partner for the 27-year-old signal-caller will be a difficult task.
