Spencer Rattler QB | NO
Saints' Spencer Rattler: Ho-hum effort in preseason finale
Rattler started the Saints' 28-19 preseason loss to the Broncos on Saturday afternoon and completed five of eight passes for 43 yards without a touchdown or interception while rushing once for no gain.
Rattler led the Saints' first three possessions before giving way to Tyler Shough, who was in the game until the fourth quarter. Rattler had noteworthy connections with Chris Olave of 12 and 10 yards, as well as a nine-yard completion to Rashid Shaheed, but Shough ultimately put up a more impressive showing. Rattler finished the preseason having gone 30-for-43 for 295 yards with a touchdown and an interception while adding seven rushes for 41 yards, and it remains to be seen if he did enough in the eyes of head coach Kellen Moore to earn the right to earn the Week 1 start against the Cardinals.

Tyler Shough QB | NO
Saints' Tyler Shough: Solid showing in preseason finale
Shough completed 12 of 20 passes for 102 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions and rushed twice for 20 yards and a score during the Saints' 28-19 preseason loss to the Broncos on Saturday afternoon. He also lost a fumble.
Shough came into the game on the Saints' fourth possession after Spencer Rattler handled the first three drives and led New Orleans to six points. Shough put together an encouraging preseason overall that saw him complete 66.7 percent of his passes while throwing for a touchdown, in addition to Saturday's 11-yard scoring scamper early in the fourth quarter that capped off an impressive 12-play, 77-yard march. Consequently, the rookie second-round pick has seemingly done everything he can to make his case over Rattler for the starting quarterback job to open the campaign, and coming days will tell whether or not his efforts were successful.

Jordan Love QB | GB
Packers' Jordan Love: Not playing in preseason finale
Love (thumb) isn't in uniform for Saturday's preseason finale against Seattle, Matt Schneidman of The Athletic reports.
Love had surgery Aug. 12 on his left thumb and was a limited practice participant at last update. There's been no concern expressed about his Week 1 status, with Love fully expected to start in a home game against the Lions. The health of his wide receivers is more of a concern, with Jayden Reed (foot) and Dontayvion Wicks (calf) both missing extended time this summer.

Sam Darnold QB | SEA
Seahawks' Sam Darnold: Not playing in preseason finale
Darnold and other key players will be held out of Saturday's preseason finale at Green Bay, Brady Henderson of ESPN.com reports.
Coach Mike Macdonald said rookie QB Jalen Milroe will start and play the entire contest. Darnold will next be seen in action Week 1, when the Seahawks host the rival 49ers.

Lamar Jackson QB | BAL
Ravens' Lamar Jackson: Should practice Monday
Ravens coach John Harbaugh said Saturday that Jackson (foot) should resume practicing Monday, Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reports.
Harbaugh joked that the QB is on track to return but will only participate if he wants to. Either way, it's the latest sign Jackson avoided a serious injury after a teammate stepped on his foot Wednesday. He didn't practice Thursday but should be back early this week as Baltimore transitions from the preseason to preparing for a Week 1 road game at Buffalo.

C.J. Stroud QB | HOU
Texans' C.J. Stroud: To be held out Saturday
Stroud and most other projected starters won't play in Saturday's preseason game against Detroit, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
The list of rested players also includes RB Nick Chubb, WRs Nico Collins and Christian Kirk, and TEs Dalton Schultz and Cade Stover. They'll soon turn their attention to a Week 1 road matchup with the Rams, a team with impressive pass rushers but major questions marks in the secondary. Stroud is looking to bounce back from a sophomore slump, with the help of new offensive coordinator Nick Caley and a remade WR corps (after Collins).

Tanner McKee QB | PHI
Eagles' Tanner McKee: Status for Week 1 up in the air
Head coach Nick Sirianni told reporters Friday that McKee is "working to get back" from a finger injury that caused him to miss the Eagles' last two preseason games, Zach Berman of The Athletic reports.
With McKee dealing with a finger injury and Jalen Hurts resting, Kyle McCord has handled most of the quarterback snaps over the Eagles' last two preseason games. McKee played well in Philadelphia's preseason opener against Cincinnati, and he is entrenched as the QB2 behind Hurts heading into the regular season. Either McCord or Dorian Thompson-Robinson would step up as the backup for Week 1 against the Cowboys on Thursday, Sept. 4 if McKee is not cleared to play.

Tyrod Taylor QB | NYJ
Jets' Tyrod Taylor: Could be ready for Week 1
Head coach Aaron Glenn told reporters Friday that he's "confident" that Taylor (knee) will be available for the Jets' regular-season opener against the Steelers on Sunday, Sept. 7, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.
Taylor is recovering from arthroscopic knee surgery that has kept him sidelined since early August. There's optimism that he'll be available for Week 1 to serve as the Jets' backup quarterback behind starter Justin Fields. If Taylor isn't cleared to suit up, then the QB2 role would fall to either Adrian Martinez or Brady Cook unless the Jets opt to sign another signal-caller ahead of the regular-season opener.

Jayden Daniels QB | WAS
Commanders' Jayden Daniels: Not playing Saturday
Daniels and most other starters won't play in Saturday's preseason game against Baltimore, Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post reports.
There's a list of 33 players that won't take part Saturday, including Daniels, Marcus Mariota, Austin Ekeler, Jacory Croskey-Merritt, Terry McLaurin (contract), Deebo Samuel, Noah Brown (undisclosed), Jaylin Lane, Zach Ertz and John Bates. The next time we see most of them will be a Week 1 home game against the Giants.

Joe Milton III QB | DAL
Cowboys' Joe Milton: Produces two TDs against Falcons
Milton completed 10 of 18 passes for 132 yards and a touchdown and added 33 rushing yards and a TD on four carries in Friday's 31-13 preseason win over Atlanta.
After two very shaky exhibition performances, Milton looked a little more polished Friday, producing Dallas' first points on a one-yard run in the first quarter and then ending his night with a 29-yard TD connection with Jalen Brooks in the third on a pass that required a little finesse to loft it over the defender. The Cowboys traded for Milton to be their new No. 2 quarterback behind Dak Prescott, and this showing may have done enough to reassure the team that the 2024 sixth-round pick is ready to handle the job.
