Dillon Gabriel QB | CLE
Browns' Dillon Gabriel: Limited Monday due to hamstring
Gabriel (hamstring) will be limited in Monday's practice, per coach Kevin Stefanski, Daniel Oyefusi of ESPN.com reports.
Stefanski also told Oyefusi that Gabriel sustained and reported the hamstring injury in practice Saturday. Shedeur Sanders (arm) is returning to full participation Monday alongside Joe Flacco, while Gabriel's limited participation in team drills will be more than Kenny Pickett (hamstring) puts forth. It remains to be seen what combination of the four quarterback Cleveland deploys in its preseason opener Thursday against the Panthers.

Kenny Pickett QB | LV
Browns' Kenny Pickett: Remains limited at practice
Pickett (hamstring) won't take part in team drills during Monday's practice, Daniel Oyefusi of ESPN.com reports.
While Pickett's return to the practice field is a positive development, the hamstring injury that previously sidelined him continues to limit him. Once Pickett is able to work fully, he'll look to resume competing for the Browns' top QB job, but for now Zac Jackson of The Athletic suggests that Pickett has been losing ground on that front to veteran signal-caller Joe Flacco. Per Scott Petrak of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram, Pickett is unlikely to play in Friday's preseason opener against the Panthers.

Tanner Mordecai QB | SF
Tanner Mordecai: Let go by SF
Mordecai was waived by the 49ers on Monday, Matt Barrows of The Athletic reports.
The 49ers are parting ways with Mordecai four days after signing quarterback Carter Bradley to a one-year contract. Mordecai had been part of the organization since signing with San Francisco as an undrafted free agent in May of 2024. He will be free to sign with any team if he passes through waivers unclaimed.

Shedeur Sanders QB | CLE
Browns' Shedeur Sanders: Set to practice fully
Sanders (arm) is slated to practice fully Monday, Daniel Oyefusi of ESPN.com reports.
Sanders was held out of team drills Saturday because of arm soreness, but the rookie signal-caller's ability to work fully Monday indicates that he's quickly moved past the issue. For now, Sanders slots in behind Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett (hamstring) and Dillon Gabriel in the Browns' ongoing QB competition.

Emory Jones QB | ATL
Falcons' Emory Jones: Set to split with Stick on Friday
Jones and Easton Stick will be Atlanta's available quarterbacks for Friday's preseason opener against the Lions, as Michael Penix and Kirk Cousins will be rested, Terrin Waack of the Falcons' official site reports.
Jones went undrafted out of Cincinnati in 2024 and was on Atlanta's practice squad after signing with the team in December. He's the underdog against Stick in the competition for the third spot on the Falcons' quarterback depth chart, though it's possible the winner of the competition could eventually move up to the backup role given Cousins' desire to be traded.

Easton Stick QB | ATL
Falcons' Easton Stick: Set for significant action Friday
Stick and Emory Jones will split quarterback duties in Friday's preseason opener against the Lions while Michael Penix and Kirk Cousins will be rested, Terrin Waack of the Falcons' official site reports.
Stick will presumably get the starting nod, as the former Chargers quarterback has four regular-season NFL starts under his belt, while Jones hasn't appeared in a regular-season NFL game. Unless one of Atlanta's top two quarterbacks gets injured or Cousins is moved off the roster, Stick and Jones will be competing for the third spot on the team's quarterback depth chart.

Spencer Rattler QB | NO
Saints' Spencer Rattler: Gets first-team reps at scrimmage
Rattler took most of the first-team snaps during Sunday's scrimmage, Ross Jackson of LouisianaSports.net reports.
Rattler reportedly played five of seven drives with the starters, compared to two for Tyler Shough and none for Jake Haener. All have gotten first-team reps this summer, but Rattler more so than the others, arguably making him the favorite to start Week 1. Preseason games also will factor into the decision, although Saints coach Kellen Moore hasn't revealed how he'll divide the QB snaps.

Anthony Richardson QB | IND
Colts' Anthony Richardson: Set to play in preseason opener
Colts coach Shane Steichen said Sunday that both Richardson and Daniel Jones will "play a good amount" in the preseason opener Thursday at Baltimore, JJ Stankevitz of the Colts' official site reports.
Reports out of Colts training camp suggest that Richardson and Jones both have shown improvement after a rough first few days of camp, but without either QB pulling away from the other. They'll continue to compete for the starting job in the preseason, with Steichen failing to name a starter for Thursday but saying that he'll try to even out snaps between the two over the first couple of preseason games.
-
Daniel Jones QB | IND
Colts' Daniel Jones: Will play in preseason opener
Colts coach Shane Steichen said Sunday that both Jones and Anthony Richardson will "play a good amount" in the preseason opener Thursday at Baltimore, JJ Stankevitz of the Colts' official site reports.
Steichen didn't name a starter, but he did say that whichever quarterback gets less playing time in this game will then get more snaps in the second week of the preseason. Reports out of Colts training camp put Jones and Richardson neck-and-neck in their competition for the starting job, with both reportedly improving in recent practices after struggling through the first few days.

Kirk Cousins QB | ATL
Falcons' Kirk Cousins: Won't play Friday night
Cousins won't play in Friday's preseason game against Detroit, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.
Neither will starter Michael Penix, leaving Easton Stick and Emory Jones as Atlanta's quarterbacks. Cousins, meanwhile, presumably still wants to be traded to a team that will give him a chance to start, but he's practicing with the Falcons' backups in the meantime.
