Gardner Minshew QB | KC
Raiders' Gardner Minshew: Headed for release
The Raiders plan to release Minshew (collarbone) when the new league year begins next Wednesday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Minshew is entering the final season of a two-year contract, following a 2024 campaign that ended early when he suffered a broken collarbone Nov. 24. He should be recovered from the injury in time for offseason activities, but there's no guarantee of him getting another shot to compete for a starting job, as he may have to settle for a backup role this time around. Over his 10 appearances for Las Vegas this past season, Minshew completed 203 of 306 pass attempts (66.3 percent) for 2,013 yards, nine touchdowns and 10 interceptions while adding 58 yards on 19 carries.

Sam Darnold QB | SEA
Vikings' Sam Darnold: Not being franchise tagged
The Vikings will not franchise tag Darnold by Tuesday's deadline, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Darnold will officially be allowed to test free agency, which kicks off at the start of the new league year March 12, though Jordan Schultz of Fox Sports reports that both sides remain mutually interested about potentially re-upping on a short-term deal. After a career-best 2024 campaign, however, in which he threw for 4,319 yards, 35 touchdowns and 12 interceptions, Darnold's demand on the open market could exceed Minnesota's best offers, especially with 2024 first-rounder J.J. McCarthy (knee) waiting for a chance to vault into the starting role after having missed his rookie year due to injury. Darnold has reportedly drawn interest from teams including the Giants and Raiders, and with Matthew Stafford having re-signed with the Rams, he figures to be viewed as an increasingly intriguing option for QB-needy clubs.

Sam Darnold QB | SEA
Vikings' Sam Darnold: Unlikely to get franchise tag
The Vikings aren't expected to place a franchise tag on Darnold, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Darnold broke through with a career-best season in 2024, registering a 35:12 TD:INT while throwing for 4,319 yards and completing 66.2 percent of his pass attempts over 17 regular-season games. However, he struggled in a Week 18 loss to the Lions that cost Minnesota a first-round playoff bye, throwing for just 166 yards, then had a subpar performance in the team's NFC wild-card loss to the Rams, throwing for 245 yards with one touchdown and one interception. Darnold joined the Vikings on a one-year contract last March, so he's slated to be a free agent and has drawn interest from the Giants and the Raiders, among other teams. However, Schefter notes that Minnesota remains interested in re-signing Darnold.

Vikings' Sam Darnold: Wanted in New York and Vegas
The Giants and Raiders are believed to have the most interest in Darnold, but the Titans and Steelers may also vie for his services, according to Alec Lewis of The Athletic.
The Vikings have until Tuesday to place a franchise/transition tag on Darnold. They reportedly want him back, depending on the price, which means they may also consider a tag-and-trade if they sense the market for his services is especially strong. It sounds like the scenario in which he actually ends up playing for the Vikings in 2025 is one where he hits the open market but is disappointed by the available offers and returns to Minnesota as one of the lesser-paid starting QBs in the league. Darnold likely would have to compete with 2024 first-round pick J.J. McCarthy (knee) in Minnesota, whereas the Raiders or Giants might consider offering assurances about starting in 2025.

Desmond Ridder QB | GB
Desmond Ridder: Not tendered by Las Vegas
The Raiders informed Ridder on Friday that the team will not tender the quarterback an offer as a restricted free agent, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
The Raiders were heavily involved in talks with Matthew Stafford, but Stafford opted to return to the Rams on a new deal Friday. Las Vegas will need to go on to its next option at the position, but the depth chart will not include Ridder. Signed off the Cardinals' practice squad in October, Ridder appeared in six games (one start) for the Raiders last season. He completed just 61.2 percent of his 85 pass attempts for 458 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions. Ridder will look for a backup opportunity elsewhere.

Aaron Rodgers QB | PIT
Jets' Aaron Rodgers: New top option for Giants?
The Giants are shifting their interest in a potential veteran quarterback to Rodgers, following the development of Matthew Stafford and the Rams agreeing to terms on a restructured contract Friday, Dianna Russini of The Athletic reports.
Russini reports New York and Rodgers have discussed a union all week at the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine. Rodgers' primary interest was in the Rams, per a recent report from Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News, but with that option now off the table, the 41-year-old signal-caller will have to consider other possibilities. With the Giants, Rodgers would have the opportunity to pair with a young standout wide receiver in Malik Nabers, who, as a rookie working with a combination of Daniel Jones, Drew Lock. Tommy DeVito and Tim Boyle, managed to put together a 109-1,204-7 receiving line across 15 games in 2024. The team additionally has the available cap space to potentially bring in Davante Adams to join Rodgers, a development both players have expressed interest in. Neither Rodgers nor Adams has yet been let go by the Jets, but their respective releases seem like a foregone conclusion.

Matthew Stafford QB | LAR
Rams' Matthew Stafford: Sticking with Rams
Stafford and the Rams agreed to terms Friday on a restructured contract that will keep him in Los Angeles and eliminate any possibilities of a trade this offseason, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Interest in Stafford as a potential trade acquisition appeared to have been building significant momentum during the week of the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine, with the Giants and Raiders headlining the list of suitors, but the veteran signal-caller has ultimately agreed to stick with the Rams and head coach Sean McVay, as confirmed by the team's official social media accounts. Further details regarding Stafford's restructured contract should arrive in short order, but it seems probable both sides agreed to a mutually beneficial short-term, potentially front-loaded deal. The 37-year-old's continued tenure in Los Angeles is a positive development for the fantasy stock of both Puka Nacua and Kyren Williams, as it preserves key continuity in McVay's offensive scheme, though Cooper Kupp seemingly remains on the trade block.

Rams' Matthew Stafford: Meeting with team Friday
Stafford is meeting with the Rams in Los Angeles on Friday to discuss his future with the team, Dianna Russini of The Athletic reports.
According to Russini, both the Giants and Raiders have already met with Stafford and discussed two-year deals that include $90-to-$100 million guaranteed, and a decision is expected soon. The new league year kicks off in two weeks, and it would be safe to assume everyone involved here would like to have a resolution by that time. The Rams allowed Stafford to talk to teams and dictate his market and worth. Stafford is likely looking for a substantial raise on the $40 million per year he's currently making. It's difficult to see him not getting that.

Brock Purdy QB | SF
49ers' Brock Purdy: Starts up extension talks
San Francisco general manager John Lynch said Wednesday that Purdy has had conversations with the front office regarding an extension, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.
Purdy's rookie deal runs through the 2025 season, but he's eligible for an extension and is looking at a significant raise. After making just $985,000 in 2024, Purdy's extension will surely be north of $50 million per year. Purdy's play fell off a bit last season, with his touchdown rate dropping from an NFL-best 7.0 percent in 2023 to just 4.4 percent in 2024. His yards per attempt also dipped more than a full yard from 9.6 to 8.5, and Purdy's 96.1 passer rating was his lowest since entering the league. Purdy was undoubtedly hindered by top wideout Brandon Aiyuk's (knee) and top running back Christian McCaffrey (knee) appearing in just seven and four games, respectively, and standout left tackle Trent Williams (ankle) was also sidelined for the final seven contests of the season.

Matthew Stafford QB | LAR
Rams' Matthew Stafford: Interest from Giants, Raiders
The Giants and Raiders are among the teams who have expressed interest in acquiring Stafford (ribs) since the Rams granted his agent permission to talk with other teams about his contract terms, Dianna Russini of The Athletic reports.
Stafford met with the Giants at the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis on Tuesday, according to Dan Duggan of The Athletic, and the veteran quarterback also had what's been termed as an "unplanned" meeting with Raiders minority owner Tom Brady in Montana recently, per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. The Rams gave Stafford permission to speak to other teams with the two sides having yet to come to agreement on a number regarding his next contract. Stafford is under contract for two more seasons with the Rams, but he wants a new deal that includes a raise and guaranteed money. It's possible he's angling for a deal worth at least $50 million annually, which would put him in the upper tier of quarterbacks; he's currently the league's 15th-highest-paid signal caller at $40 million per year.
