  • Lions' David Montgomery: Doesn't practice Wednesday

    Montgomery (ribs) was a non-participant during Wednesday's walk-through practice.

Montgomery was knocked out of the Lions' Week 6 win over the Buccaneers with what eventually was termed a rib cartilage issue, which head coach Dan Campbell told Colton Pouncy of The Athletic on Monday likely will result in at least one missed game. Meanwhile, No. 2 running back Jahmyr Gibbs was listed as a limited participant Wednesday, and reserve Craig Reynolds sat out due to hamstring and toe issues. With all three of Detriot's backfield options banged up at the moment, the overall situation will be one to watch as the week goes on to see who may be able to play Sunday at Baltimore.

  • Saints' Jamaal Williams: Listed as questionable for Thursday

Williams (hamstring) is listed as questionable for Thursday's game against the Jaguars.

The Saints designated Williams to return from injured reserve this week and listed him as a limited participant for each day of practice. A return for Week 8 against Indianapolis seems more likely than playing Thursday, but the Saints at least are leaving open the possibility of activating Williams prior to the Week 7 contest. If Williams suits up this week, he may be in store for only a handful of carries behind lead back Alvin Kamara.

  • Saquon Barkley RB | PHI

Giants' Saquon Barkley: Stays limited at practice

Barkley (ankle) was listed as a limited practice participant Wednesday, Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News reports.

After sitting out three contests due to a right high-ankle sprain, Barkley returned to action this past Sunday in Buffalo, garnering 79 percent of the offensive snaps and turning 28 touches into 98 yards from scrimmage. Clearly, he's able to handle anything the Giants give him on game days, but he likely will continue to have a cap on his practice reps until the injury is well in the rear-view mirror. Barkley may need to log a full session by week's end to head into Sunday's outing against the Commanders without an injury designation.

  • Hunter Luepke RB | DAL

Cowboys' Hunter Luepke: Handles minor blocking role Week 6

Luepke didn't log any carries or targets while playing seven of the Cowboys' 64 snaps on offense in Monday's 20-17 win over the Chargers.

The Cowboys have kept the undrafted rookie fullback active for each of their first six contests, but he's failed to record any offensive statistics outside of Weeks 3 and 4, when he carried three times for 13 yards and a touchdown and added a 12-yard reception. He'll continue to function mostly as a blocker on the handful of snaps he gets in a given week.

  • Aaron Jones RB | MIN

Packers' Aaron Jones: Remains limited after bye week

Coach Matt LaFleur said Jones (hamstring) was a limited participant at Wednesday's practice, Wes Hodkiewicz of the Packers' official site reports.

Jones has yet to log a full session since straining his left hamstring Week 1 at Chicago. Despite missing three of the Packers' next four games, he still isn't back to 100 percent, even with the benefit of the team's Week 6 bye. Jones will have two more sessions this week to prove the health of his hamstring, at which point he may receive a designation ahead of Sunday's contest at Denver. AJ Dillon could remain Green Bay's preferred option out of the backfield until Jones is back to 100 percent.

  • Dolphins' Chris Brooks: Misses practice Wednesday

Brooks (ankle) did not participate at practice Wednesday, Daniel Oyefusi of the Miami Herald reports.

Brooks sustained a sprained ankle during Sunday's win versus Carolina, so it's no big surprise that he was unable to practice Wednesday. He'd likely have to practice in some capacity Thursday or Friday to have a chance at suiting up in Week 7.

  • Travis Homer RB | PIT

Bears' Travis Homer: Limited in practice

Homer (hamstring) was a limited practice participant Wednesday.

The return to practice gives him some shot to play this Sunday against the Raiders after missing Week 6, but Homer likely would get most of his work on passing downs even with Khalil Herbert (ankle) on injured reserve and Roschon Johnson (concussion) looking uncertain to be available this week. D'Onta Foreman and Darrynton Evans handled all the backfield snaps in this past Sunday's loss to Minnesota while Herbert, Johnson and Homer were out.

  • Bears' Roschon Johnson: Not practicing yet

Johnson (concussion) isn't practicing Wednesday, Courtney Cronin of ESPN.com reports.

Johnson hasn't practiced since suffering a concussion in a Thursday night win over Washington in Week 5. He missed the Week 6 loss to Minnesota in which D'Onta Foreman and Darrynton Evans handled the backfield work while Johnson, Khalil Herbert (ankle) and Travis Homer (hamstring) all sat out. Another missed practice suggests Johnson is in danger of missing a second game this Sunday against Las Vegas.

  • Aaron Jones RB | MIN

Packers' Aaron Jones: Back at practice

Jones (hamstring) is in pads for Wednesday's practice, Mike Spofford of the Packers' official site reports.

Jones missed three of the past four games but may be healthy after a Week 6 bye. The Packers play in Denver this Sunday, with AJ Dillon likely to have his role scaled back if Jones is indeed ready to play.

  • Kareem Hunt RB | KC

Browns' Kareem Hunt: Not practicing Wednesday

Hunt won't practice Wednesday due to a thigh injury, Scott Petrak of the Chronicle-Telegram reports.

Hunt set a season high with 12 carries in last week's win over the 49ers and also found the end zone, but he opens up Week 7 prep with an absence at practice. The veteran running back will have two more opportunities to return to practice this week, and if Hunt is ultimately able to play Sunday against the Colts, he'll likely fill a change-of-pace role behind Jerome Ford in the Browns backfield.
