Jeff Wilson RB | MIA
Dolphins' Jeff Wilson: To practice soon
Wilson (ribs) is expected to be designated for return from injured reserve this week, David Furones of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
Once the transaction is official, Wilson would then have a 21-day practice window opened, which would give him a chance to make his season debut as early as Sunday's matchup against the Panthers. The veteran running back has missed the first five weeks of the 2023 campaign due to midsection and finger injuries suffered in the preseason. Raheem Mostert and rookie De'Von Achane have performed superbly to begin the 2023 campaign, so it's possible Wilson is relegated to a depth role when he returns to action.

Cordarrelle Patterson RB | PIT
Falcons' Cordarrelle Patterson: Plays five offensive snaps
Patterson caught his lone target for seven yards during Sunday's 21-19 win over the Texans. He also returned one kickoff for 35 yards.
Patterson, who was sidelined with a thigh injury to begin 2023, made his season debut in Week 4, but he played just one offensive snap. The veteran's role slightly increased versus Houston, and he garnered his first touch of the season, but it appears he's still working his way back to game speed. While the offensive production was modest, Patterson did make a splash on special teams, and he figures to get more kick-return opportunities moving forward now that his offensive workload is reduced with Bijan Robinson and Tyler Allgeier leading the backfield.

Devin Singletary RB | NYG
Texans' Devin Singletary: Zero touches in loss
Singletary did not get a carry and failed to catch his lone target in Sunday's 21-19 loss to Atlanta.
Singletary entered the game averaging eight touches per game, but the backup running back went largely unused over 17 snaps against the Falcons. Houston's ground game never got going, failing to reach 100 yards for the fourth time in five weeks, but that hadn't prevented offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik from giving Singletary more looks in previous weeks. There's only so many touches he'll get while Dameon Pierce is healthy, but Singletary could be part of the solution that fixes an offense tied for last in the league with 3.0 yards per carry.

Tony Pollard RB | TEN
Cowboys' Tony Pollard: Stymied in blowout loss
Pollard had eight carries for 29 yards and four receptions on five targets for 35 yards in Sunday's 42-10 loss to the 49ers.
The Cowboys fell behind early and were forced into a one-dimensional game plan, resulting in a season-low eight carries for Pollard. Last week, the 26-year-old's touches were limited because the Cowboys were on the other side of a blowout game script, resulting in two pedestrian fantasy scores following a hot start to the season. Pollard will attempt to get back on track as a top fantasy option in a soft matchup against the Chargers next Monday.

Eric Gray RB | NYG
Giants' Eric Gray: Gets first touches of NFL career
Gray rushed 12 times for 25 yards, caught his only target for one yard and returned a kickoff for 20 yards in Sunday's Week 5 loss to Miami.
Gray was busy Sunday, though he was far from efficient. Coming into the contest, all of his NFL action had been on special teams, but the rookie saw a prominent role on offense against the Dolphins and led New York in carries, logging three more than starter Matt Breida. Neither ball carrier was able to make much of an impact, though -- Breida gained 21 yards on his nine totes. The Giants' offensive line has struggled mightily this season, and the result has been a 1-4 start behind the league's lowest-scoring offense. While it was a positive for Gray that he finally got involved in the backfield Sunday, he'll likely return to a special-teams role when Saquon Barkley (ankle) gets healthy, which could happen as soon as next Sunday against Buffalo.
-
Tyjae Spears RB | TEN
Titans' Tyjae Spears: First career touchdown
Spears rushed the ball seven times for 34 yards with a touchdown in Sunday's 23-16 loss to the Colts. He added four receptions on five targets for 35 yards.
Spears had a career day, tallying his most touches (11) and total yards (69) as a pro through five games. He also found the end zone for the first time, as he took an end around 19 yards early in the third quarter. Derrick Henry will remain the lead back in Tennessee, but Spears has shown impressive efficiency as a runner early in the campaign, which could lead to additional opportunity moving forward.
-
Christian McCaffrey RB | SF
49ers' Christian McCaffrey: Grinds for 78 yards plus TD
McCaffrey had 19 carries for 51 yards and a touchdown while catching two of three targets for 27 receiving yards in Sunday's 42-10 win over the Cowboys. He also lost a fumble, his first turnover of the season.
McCaffrey had to fight for every yard in a physical battle against a Dallas defense that was intent on stopping the run. The early MVP candidate took a direct shot to the head on an illegal hit in the second quarter that the running back was slow to get up from. McCaffrey was able gather himself while the officiating crew sorted out Dallas' penalties and was back on the field for San Francisco's next play, eventually scoring a short touchdown to finish the drive. The fantasy stud has scored a rushing touchdown in every game this season, contributing eight combined scores for fantasy managers through five weeks. McCaffrey will look to extend his scoring streak next Sunday against the Browns, who boast a talented defensive roster but have struggled against the run this year (28th in rushing yards allowed).
-
Justice Hill RB | BAL
Ravens' Justice Hill: Finds end zone in Week 5
Hill rushed the ball seven times for 32 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 17-10 loss to the Steelers. He added four receptions on four targets for 13 yards.
Gus Edwards maintained his role as the Ravens' primary rusher, though Hill arguably maintained a more valuable role with work in the red zone and as a receiver. Hill found the end zone midway through the first quarter on a 14-yard scamper, which was his longest gain of the day. He also was the only Baltimore back to catch a pass, but he's managed just 25 yards on seven targets this season. Hill could continue to see a similar role moving forward, though he'll be an unreliable fantasy option due to his lack of reliable volume.
-
Jaylen Warren RB | PIT
Steelers' Jaylen Warren: Good efficiency in win
Warren rushed the ball nine times for 40 yards in Sunday's 17-10 win over the Ravens. He added three receptions on three targets for 39 yards.
Warren was narrowly out-touched by Najee Harris, 15-12. However, Warren was the far more efficient of the duo, as he racked up 79 total yards -- his second-highest mark of the season -- as opposed to Harris' 40 yards. The Steelers are heading into a Week 6 bye, and it's possible that Warren will emerge with an even more substantial role in Week 7 against the Rams.

Kendre Miller RB | NO
Saints' Kendre Miller: Tallies 90 yards in win
Miller compiled 12 carries for 37 yards and hauled in all four targets for 53 yards during Sunday's 34-0 victory against the Patriots.
Miller logged nine carries and two receptions during the second half of the blowout win for New Orleans. The rookie out of TCU saw some solid usage in the first half while spelling No. 1 running back Alvin Kamara, who tallied 22 carries for 80 yards and a touchdown. Miller's biggest highlight came in the second quarter when he caught a swing pass in the flat before running around a couple of defenders for a 33-yard gain. That also marked the Saints' longest play from scrimmage and allowed Miller to finish with the team's second-most receiving yards behind wideout Michael Thomas (65). The rookie 220-pound running back has now tallied 22 carries for 74 yards and six receptions for 58 yards since making his professional debut Week 3. With veteran Jamaal Williams (hamstring) stuck on IR until at least Week 7, expect Miller to continue serving as New Orleans' RB2 versus the Texans on Sunday, Oct. 15.
