  • Chase Edmonds RB | WAS

Cardinals' Chase Edmonds: To remain backup RB

Edmonds is expected to remain the Cardinals' No. 2 running back with David Johnson (back) active for Sunday's game versus the Falcons.

Edmonds totaled just eight touches through the first three weeks of the season, but injuries to the receiving corps and David Johnson's bad back allowed the second-year pro to notch 17 the last two games. There's a chance Johnson yields more work to Edmonds than normal Sunday, which could yield fruit as he's averaged 6.7 yards per carry and hauled in six of nine targets in 2019.

  • Ronald Jones RB | DAL

Buccaneers' Ronald Jones: Salvages day with score

Jones rushed four times for 10 yards and a touchdown in the Buccaneers' 37-26 loss to the Panthers on Sunday.

If not for a five-yard touchdown in the second quarter, Jones' day would have been an absolute dud. As it was, he saw a very limited role with game script quickly turning against the ground attack. Peyton Barber also doubled up Jones in carries, keeping their timeshare as perplexing as usual. Jones will look to bounce back with more opportunities in a Week 8 matchup against the Titans following a Week 7 bye.

  • Panthers' Christian McCaffrey: Stymied but scores twice

McCaffrey rushed 22 times for 31 yards and a touchdown while securing four of five targets for 26 yards and another score in the Panthers' 37-26 win over the Buccaneers on Sunday.

As was the case when the teams met Week 2 in Carolina, McCaffrey continued running into brick walls in the running game across the pond in London. However, the multi-talented running back still managed to find his way into the end zone on a pair of occasions, with the one through the air coming on a nifty 25-yard reception midway through the second quarter. McCaffrey now has seven total touchdowns over the last four games alone and will rest up over the coming bye week ahead of a challenging matchup against the 49ers defense Week 8.

  • Bengals' Trayveon Williams: Suiting up Sunday

Williams is active for Sunday's game against the Ravens, Ben Baby of ESPN.com reports.

Williams is making his NFL debut Sunday. He missed some games due to a foot injury and was held out due to coach's decision the last couple weeks. He'll likely have a depth running back and special teams role in his first game, and isn't likely to have much fantasy value unless there are injuries to the position.

  • Rashaad Penny RB | CAR

Seahawks' Rashaad Penny: Lands on inactive list

Penny (hamstring) is listed as inactive Week 6 against Cleveland.

Penny was able to suit up and contribute last week against the Rams, but it appears he tweaked his hamstring again, as he was added back to the injury report this week. Even though he logged back-to-back full practice sessions, Penny will end up missing his third game of the season. In his absence, look for Chris Carson to lead the backfield, with CJ Prosise on hand in a backup capcity.

  • Alvin Kamara RB | NO

Saints' Alvin Kamara: Officially active in Week 6

Kamara (ankle) is officially active for Sunday's Week 6 tilt against the Jaguars, Amie Just of NOLA.com reports.

As expected, Kamara will be available without any reports of limitations Week 6 against the Jaguars. Latavius Murray will continue to act as his complement, but at present, there's no expectation he'll have to take on a larger role than usual.

  • Alvin Kamara RB | NO

Saints' Alvin Kamara: In line to play Week 6

Coach Sean Payton told Melanie Collins of CBS that Kamara (ankle) will be active Sunday at Jacksonville.

The Saints won't confirm as much until 90 minutes before Sunday's 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff, but Kamara is expected to play through the ankle that he tweaked at Thursday's practice. Assuming no setbacks before or during the game, he could have a banner day against a Jaguars defense that has conceded a league-high 5.6 yards per carry to running backs this season.

  • Alvin Kamara RB | NO

Saints' Alvin Kamara: Expected to play Sunday

Kamara (ankle) is expected to play Sunday in Jacksonville barring a setback, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. He participated in Saturday's walk-through session and is listed as questionable on the official injury report.

Kamara initially wasn't trending in the right direction for Week 6, as he went from a limited participation at Thursday's practice to no activity Friday. However, Rapoport's report suggests Kamara's condition improved Saturday. Still, a decision on his availability won't come until approximately 90 minutes before Sunday's 1 p.m. EDT kickoff.

  • John Kelly RB | CLE

Rams' John Kelly: Promoted to active roster

Kelly was promoted to the Rams' active roster Saturday.

With Todd Gurley (quad) ruled out for Sunday's game against the 49ers, Kelly will be brought on board to serve as the team's third running back. Kelly is not expected to play a significant role in Sunday's outing, with Malcolm Brown and rookie Darrell Henderson in line to lead the way in the backfield.

  • Melvin Gordon RB | BAL

Chargers' Melvin Gordon: On pace for more work

Coach Anthony Lynn told Daniel Popper of The Athletic that Gordon will be utilized more Sunday night against the Steelers.

In his first game action following his holdout, Gordon ranked behind Austin Ekeler in offensive snap share last Sunday against the Broncos, getting 46 percent to the former's 66 percent. Based on past seasons, those numbers should flip in the near future, and perhaps as soon as Sunday. In Week 5, Gordon managed just 2.6 YPC on his 12 rushes while hauling in four of six passes for seven yards. The going should be easier this Sunday versus a Pittsburgh defense that has allowed 125.8 rushing yards per game this season.
