He missed the entire 2025 season but is now healthy and ready to compete for a job in the Chicago backfield. The 27-year-old has 593 career rushing yards and five touchdowns on 163 carries across 38 regular-season games. He can also play special teams.

Colts' Salvon Ahmed: Officially placed on IL
The Colts placed Ahmed (ankle) on injured reserve Friday.
As expected, Ahmed will miss the entire 2025 season after suffering an ankle injury during this past Sunday's training camp practice, when he was on the receiving end of an illegal hip-drop tackle. Ahmed was competing for a spot on the Colts' 53-man roster after spending the 2024 season on Indianapolis' and Miami's practice squads, but he will now shift his focus towards being healthy for the 2026 campaign. Khalil Herbert, Ulysses Bentley and newest addition Nate Noel will have increased opportunities to compete with Tyler Goodson and DJ Giddens for backup running back duties due to Ahmed's injury.

Colts' Salvon Ahmed: Could miss entire 2025 campaign
Ahmed is in jeopardy of missing the entire 2025 season due to an ankle injury, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Ahmed had to be taken to a local hospital Sunday after he was taken down by a defender with an illegal hip-drop tackle. Further tests revealed an ankle injury, and it is severe enough that Ahmed could be sidelined for the whole season. His absence gives Khalil Herbert a better chance at making the Colts' 53-man roster at the conclusion of training camp.

He can be activated at any time during training camp or the preseason, once cleared to practice.

Dolphins' Salvon Ahmed: Staying with Miami
Ahmed (foot) agreed Wednesday with the Dolphins on a one-year contract, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
The 25-year-old running back has played in 38 games over four seasons since catching on with the Dolphins as an undrafted free agent in 2020, taking 163 carries for 593 yards (3.6 YPC) and five touchdowns and adding 40 catches for 274 yards and another score on 57 targets. Ahmed mostly saw playing time in obvious passing situations in 2023 before a foot injury ended his season in November.
