Mike Boone RB | MIA
Vikings' Mike Boone: Lackluster preseason debut
Boone had 12 carries for 22 yards and three receptions for 21 yards in Saturday's win at Denver.
Boone got the first carries of the three running backs competing for the No. 3 job, but was the least impressive. With Roc Thomas scoring two touchdowns with 131 total yards, Boone may have fallen behind Thomas and Mack Brown. However, the third running back role may not be decided until late in the preseason.

Roc Thomas RB | JAC
Vikings' Roc Thomas: Scores two TDs in preseason win
Thomas had eight carries for 29 yards and three receptions for 109 yards and two touchdowns in Saturday's preseason win at Denver.
Thomas took a pass over the middle for a 78-yard touchdown for his second score. Thomas showed a burst at running back and may have taken an early lead in the battle for the No. 3 running back role with Mack Brown and Mike Boone.

Latavius Murray RB | BUF
Vikings' Latavius Murray: Explosive in preseason opener
Murray rushed four times for 48 yards during Saturday's preseason opener against the Broncos.
Murray ripped off back-to-back 20-plus yard rushes on the opening drive and was the primary reason the Vikings were able to cruise down the field for a touchdown on the first-string offense's lone drive of the game. While the running back is nonetheless looking at a demotion in the near future when Dalvin Cook (knee) is ready to play, Murray will likely maintain a significant role in the Vikings offense and could still hold fantasy relevance in preseason contests while Cook works his way back into action.
-
Nick Chubb RB | HOU
Browns' Nick Chubb: Tough sledding in preseason debut
Chubb rushed 15 times for 11 yards and caught one pass (one target) for 12 yards during Thursday's 20-10 preseason victory over the Giants.
Chubb was the only Browns back to see double-digit carries in the contest, but failed to make an impression. The fact he saw the bulk of the carries is encouraging, but at the same time, his underwhelming performance highlights the fact he's still behind Carlos Hyde and Duke Johnson on the depth chart.
-
Dalvin Cook RB | DAL
Vikings' Dalvin Cook: Won't play Saturday
Cook (knee) went through a scripted pre-game workout but will not play in Saturday's preseason opener against the Broncos, Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
There was speculation that Cook could play Saturday in what would mark the running back's first live snaps since he tore his ACL in Week 4 of last year. However, it looks like Cook will now have to wait another week. The Vikings' second preseason game is next Saturday against the Jaguars.
-
Darrel Williams RB | NO
Chiefs' Darrel Williams: Solid run in opener
Williams rushed six times for 16 yards and caught two passes for 14 yards during Thursday's preseason opener against the Texans.
Williams faces a tough challenge to make the 53-man roster with numerous backs -- all more experienced -- also vying for a limited number of spots allotted to running backs. The coaching staff will likely want to get a long look at the borderline guys in the first couple of weeks before the team has to begin making cuts.
-
Matt Jones RB | WAS
Eagles' Matt Jones: Returns to practice
Jones (leg) participated in Saturday's practice, Jeff McLane of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
Jones has been sidelined for a little over a week with the leg injury and was forced to miss the team's preseason opener as a result. With his return to practice, Jones should be in good shape to play in Thursday's preseason game against the Patriots.
-
George Atkinson RB | NYJ
Jets' George Atkinson: Bottled up in preseason opener
Atkinson rushed nine times for 12 yards, lost a fumble, and added a one-yard reception on his lone target during a 17-0 win over the Falcons in Friday's preseason opener.
Atkinson gained 10 yards on one of his carries, but he was completely bottled up otherwise. He's far from a lock to make the roster even with New York's running back corps getting hit by the injury bug, and Atkinson looks to be well below rookie sixth-rounder Trenton Cannon in the pecking order. Cannon rushed 11 times for 40 yards in this one.
-
Donnel Pumphrey RB | DET
Eagles' Donnel Pumphrey: Suffers lower body injury
Pumphrey left Saturday's practice with a lower body injury and will not return, Jeff McLane of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
The specifics of Pumphrey's injury are yet to be released, so it's hard to say how severe it may be at this time. Pumphrey, who is competing for a depth role in the Eagles' backfield, was already held out of the team's first preseason game, and missing a second due to injury could severely hurt his chances of making the final roster.
-
Corey Clement RB | ARI
Eagles' Corey Clement: Absent from Saturday's practice
Clement (undisclosed) will not participate in Saturday's practice session, Jeff McLane of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
Clement may have been dinged up in the process of totaling 32 yards in Thursday's preseason opener, though the team will likely provide a more detailed account of his absence from the session afterward. With the second-year back on more stable footing in terms of a 53-man roster spot than he was as an undrafted rookie last season, Clement has less incentive to rush back to the field if he's dealing with an issue this preseason.
