Harkey evidently didn't make enough of an impression in the preseason to warrant a roster spot. As a vested veteran, he isn't subject to waivers and is eligible to sign elsewhere immediately.

Schreck (knee) was placed on injured reserve Saturday, Katherine Terrell of ESPN reports.

Schreck hurt his knee in the third preseason game, though the severity of his injury remains unspecified. He's likely stuck on IR all season unless he agrees to an injury settlement.

Orndoff was waived by the Lions on Saturday, WXYZ Detroit reports.

The Lions only kept three tight ends, so Orndoff realistically never stood a chance. He probably isn't a candidate for the practice squad either.

Hill was waived by the Packers on Saturday, Michael Cohen of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reports.

Hill was impressive in the preseason, but the Packers have no reason to waste a roster spot on a third QB given their outstanding talent at the position. Green Bay is taking a risk in letting Hill go with hopes of no other team claiming him off waivers. If he passes through untouched, look for Green Bay to make an aggressive move to ensure he lands on the practice squad.

Tonyan was waived by the Lions on Saturday, Michael Rothstein of ESPN reports

Tonyan was seeing first-team reps as a pass-catching tight end with Eric Ebron (hamstring) sidelined, so his release suggests the Lions are confident Ebron will be ready to go come Week 1.

Bell was waived by the 49ers Saturday, Matt Barrows of The Sacramento Bee reports.

Bell was unable to beat out the other 49ers tight ends for a spot on the roster. He would have been just a depth option had he made the team, however, with George Kittle and Logan Paulsen seemingly in line for the No. 1 and No. 2 spots respectively.

Amaro was released by the Titans on Saturday, Jim Wyatt of the team's official site reports.

The writing was on the wall when the Titans used a third-round pick in this year's draft on fellow tight end Jonnu Smith. A 2014 second-round pick, Amaro has caught only three passes since his rookie year.

Byrd was waived by the Packers on Saturday, Michael Cohen of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Byrd faced long odds of beating out any of the Packers' three veteran tight ends for a roster spot, and his release confirms that he will not break camp with the squad. He could be a candidate for Green Bay's practice squad, however.

Paulsen hauled in his only target for 11 yards in Thursday's preseason finale against the Chargers.

The veteran tight end has had a quiet preseason with his new team, but the recent trade of Vance McDonald to Pittsburgh coupled with Paulsen's familiarity with head coach Kyle Shanahan's blocking schemes puts him in a strong position to make the cut as a backup.

Williams was waived by the Panthers on Friday, Steve Reed of the Associated Press reports.

Williams failed to make it as a depth option at tight end. If he clears waivers, Williams will be eligible to sign with another team.
