Pat Freiermuth TE | PIT
Steelers' Pat Freiermuth: Won't play Sunday
Freiermuth (hamstring) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Ravens, Teresa Varley of the Steelers' official site reports.
Freiermuth didn't practice all week, and with the Steelers on bye in Week 6, the tight end's next chance to see game action will arrive Sunday, Oct. 22 against the Rams. Given that Freiermuth is out this weekend, rookie Darnell Washington figures to see an increased role and could get his first NFL start versus Baltimore, with Connor Heyward and Rodney Williams also on hand.

Stephen Sullivan TE | CAR
Panthers' Stephen Sullivan: Won't play at Detroit
Sullivan (hip) is listed as out for Sunday's game at the Lions.
Despite practicing in full Friday, Sullivan will sit out for the fifth straight game Sunday. His next chance to return to game action will be in Week 6 at Miami.
-
Giovanni Ricci TE | DET
Panthers' Giovanni Ricci: Will be available at Detroit
Ricci (shoulder) does not carry an injury designation ahead of Sunday's game at the Lions.
Ricci was able to manage a full practice Friday after limited participation Wednesday and Thursday, so he'll be back in pads for Week 5. He has just one target through four games in 2023.
-
Dawson Knox TE | BUF
Bills' Dawson Knox: Cleared to play in London
Knox (quadriceps) logged a full practice Friday and doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Jaguars in London.
Knox opened the week with a pair of limited practices, but his full participation Friday suggests the tight end isn't in danger of sitting out Sunday. Rookie first-round pick Dalton Kincaid has 15 catches to Knox's eight through four games, but Knox has the only touchdown between them, and the 6-foot-4 Knox scored 15 times over the previous two seasons. Both of Buffalo's top two tight ends could see substantial involvement against a Jacksonville defense that has allowed 261 yards and two touchdowns to the position through four contests this season.

Robert Tonyan TE | PIT
Bears' Robert Tonyan: Two grabs in win
Tonyan caught both of his targets for 10 yards in the Bears' 40-20 win over the Commanders on Thursday.
Tonyan has caught two passes in each of his past two games, but as long as Cole Kmet is on the field, Tonyan's upside will be limited. On the season, he has four catches for 28 yards in four games played.

Darren Waller TE | MIA
Giants' Darren Waller: Tabbed for greater involvement
Giants head coach Brian Daboll said Thursday that the coaching staff "can do a better job" of implementing play calls for Waller, Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com reports.
When New York acquired Waller in the offseason, it was with an eye on making him a central part of the team's passing game. That was the case in a Week 2 victory against Arizona, when the veteran tight end totaled 76 yards on six catches, but he's been to held to exactly three receptions and no more than 36 yards in the team's other three contests (all losses). Part of the lack of production has been due to poor play on the part of the Giants' offensive line, which has resulted in Waller working as a blocker more often than anticipated while also limiting quarterback Daniel Jones' time to get the ball downfield. Though Waller hasn't yet put up the type of numbers fantasy managers who drafted him as a top-five tight end may have anticipated, the positive news is that New York's coaching staff appears intent on getting him more involved, which could lead to more production as the season progresses.

Logan Thomas TE | SF
Commanders' Logan Thomas: Season-best effort in loss
Thomas brought in nine of 11 targets for 77 yards and a touchdown in the Commanders' 40-20 loss to the Bears on Thursday night. He also lost a fumble.
The veteran tight end was in vintage form during a game in which Sam Howell was forced to put the ball up 51 times, leading the Commanders in receptions, receiving yards and targets. Thomas' lost fumble didn't lead to any Bears points, and his catch total for the night actually matched the one he came in with for the entire season. With his first big game of the campaign under his belt, Thomas will next take aim at the Falcons in a Week 6 road matchup Sunday, Oct. 15.

Cole Kmet TE | CHI
Bears' Cole Kmet: Finds end zone again Thursday
Kmet secured all five targets for 42 yards and a touchdown in the Bears' 40-20 win over the Commanders on Thursday night. He also committed a fumble but recovered it.
Kmet's sudden touchdown surge extended to a second game, as he found the end zone on a four-yard grab just before halftime four days after crossing the goal line twice in a Week 4 loss to the Broncos. The fifth-year tight end hadn't scored in the first three games of the season, but he's now recorded at least four catches in four of five contests to open the campaign. He could have a good chance of continuing to serve as a force in the red zone against a vulnerable Vikings pass defense during a Week 6 home NFC North matchup Sunday, Oct. 15.

Luke Musgrave TE | GB
Packers' Luke Musgrave: Gets in full practice Thursday
Musgrave (concussion) practiced fully Thursday, Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com reports.
Musgrave made an early exit last Thursday against the Lions to be evaluated for a concussion and eventually was ruled out for the rest of that contest. The Packers held an unofficial practice Tuesday, when the rookie tight end was spotted taking part in drills. By logging a full session to begin Week 5 prep, Musgrave appears on the precipice of emerging from the protocol for head injuries, as Demovsky suggested earlier Thursday. Still, neither the team nor coach Matt LaFleur has confirmed as much.

Irv Smith TE | HOU
Bengals' Irv Smith: Gets in full practice Thursday
Smith (hamstring) was upgraded to a full participant in Thursday's practice, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
Smith looks like he'll be able to return for Sunday's Week 5 game against the Cardinals after missing the previous two contests. It'll likely send Tanner Hudson back to the bench. Smith has five catches for 27 scoreless yards on nine targets through two games. Smith could see increased targets if Tee Higgins (ribs) is unable to play in Arizona.
