  • Dawson Knox TE | BUF

Bills' Dawson Knox: Back at practice Tuesday

Knox (finger) returned to practice Tuesday, Alaina Getzenberg of ESPN.com reports.

Knox played four snaps in the preseason opener but missed last weekend's second exhibition. He should be on track for the Week 1 opener against the Jets on Monday, Sept. 11. Knox's role remains secure as the top inline tight end, but the arrival of first-round rookie Dalton Kincaid clouds Knox's potential target share as the fourth or fifth option in the pecking order on offense.

  • Mike Gesicki TE | CIN

Patriots' Mike Gesicki: Wearing non-contact jersey

Gesicki (shoulder) returned to practice Tuesday in a non-contact jersey, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports.

Gesicki continues to work his way back from a mild shoulder dislocation. The Patriots remain optimistic about his chances of suiting up for Week 1's matchup against the Eagles, and resuming non-contact reps is a step in the right direction. Still, Gesicki doesn't seem likely to play in Friday's preseason finale against the Titans.

  • Tanner Conner TE | NYG

Dolphins' Tanner Conner: Ready for action

Conner (undisclosed) was activated from the active/PUP list Tuesday.

Conner opened camp on the list and has been unable to practice thus far. However, after passing his physical he'll be able to take the field with his team from here on out. The Idaho State product made 13 appearances with the Dolphins last season after going undrafted, and he'll use what time is left in camp to secure a spot on the team's 53-man roster once again.

  • Travis Vokolek TE | ARI

    Ravens' Travis Vokolek: Scores twice

Vokolek caught three of four targets for 28 yards and two touchdowns in Monday's preseason loss to the Commanders.

The undrafted rookie out of Nebraska had two catches for 30 yards the week prior and further strengthened his case for a roster spot Monday night. The Ravens only have four tight ends on the roster, and two of the guys ahead of him are locks (Mark Andrews, Isaiah Likely) while the other appears a near-lock (Charlie Kolar). There's no hope for short-term fantasy value on a team with Andrews and Likely, but Vokolek does offer some long-term potential given his size (6-6, 270) and developing receiving skills.

  • Charlie Kolar TE | LAC

Ravens' Charlie Kolar: Leads team in receiving yards

Kolar caught two of three targets for 61 yards in Monday's preseason matchup with Washington.

The 2022 fourth-round pick worked as Baltimore's top tight end with both Mark Andrews (rest) and Isaiah Likely (undisclosed) held out. Kolar had a nice outing, but so did undrafted rookie Travis Vokolek, who now has a 5-58-2 receiving line through two preseason games. While Kolar is unlikely to lose his roster spot, the Ravens now seem more likely to keep four tight ends. Both should get plenty of snaps in the preseason finale Saturday against Tampa Bay, considering the Ravens have only the four aforementioned TEs on their roster.

  • John Bates TE | WAS

    Commanders' John Bates: Held catchless

Bates finished with one target and no receptions in Monday's preseason win over Baltimore.

With Logan Thomas (calf) sidelined, Cole Turner worked as the primary tight end on the first-team offense, while Bates played a few snaps and mostly blocked. There's not much hope for significant receiving production, but Bates at least figures to have a blocking role for the third straight year since Washington made him a fourth-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.

  • Cade Otton TE | TB

Buccaneers' Cade Otton: First two catches of preseason

Otton secured both targets for 17 yards in the Buccaneers' 13-6 preseason win over the Jets on Saturday night. He also recovered a fumble.

Otton had logged 14 snaps against the Steelers in the preseason opener but hadn't seen a target. The second-year tight end broke the ice Saturday and remains on track to serve as the clear-cut top pass-catching option at tight end to open the 2023 season.

  • Sal Cannella TE | CLE

Seahawks' Sal Cannella: Signs with Seattle

The Seahawks signed Cannella on Monday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

Cannella led the XFL's Arlington Renegades with 42 catches, turning them into 415 scoreless yards earlier this year. A catch-first tight end, Cannella has yet to appear in an NFL game and faces an uphill battle to land a roster spot with the Seahawks.

  • Will Dissly TE | LAC

Seahawks' Will Dissly: One reception versus Cowboys

Dissly caught his lone target for eight yards in Saturday's 22-14 preseason win over the Cowboys.

Dissly endured another offseason of rehab, as he suffered a knee injury late in the 2022 season, although he fortunately avoided surgery this time around. This was his first catch of the preseason. He's not expected to be a consistent fantasy contributor this season, as he typically blocks more than fellow tight ends Noah Fant and Colby Parkinson.

  • Lucas Krull TE | DEN

Saints' Lucas Krull: Sees eight targets in preseason win

Krull (tailbone) caught three of eight targets for 30 yards in the Saints' preseason win over the Chargers on Sunday night.

The tight end missed the preseason opener against the Chiefs but returned against Los Angeles to play 40 offensive snaps and another seven on special teams. The second-year undrafted free agent is looking to win a final roster spot in New Orleans.
