  • Browns' Harrison Bryant: Has good practice day

Bryant had his most active day as a receiver in training camp during Saturday's practice, Anthony Poisal of the Browns' official site reports.

Bryant's been active every day in camp but was extra involved as a receiver due to Jordan Akins being sidelined by a knee injury. His best effort was a sliding catch for 30 yards during a 7-on-7 drill. Bryant is slated to serve as the team's third tight end if Akins is healthy.

  • Jody Fortson TE | KC

    Chiefs' Jody Fortson: Missing practice

Fortson (shoulder) is not practicing Sunday, Pete Sweeney of ArrowheadPride.com reports.

Fortson suffered the injury during training camp Friday, and it appears it's still affecting him enough to keep him sidelined. He'll continue working to heal up and take the field for their next practice.

  • Jordan Akins TE | JAC

Browns' Jordan Akins: Resting knee to start training camp

Head coach Kevin Stefanski said Sunday that Akins hasn't been practicing this week to rest his knee, Scott Petrak of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram reports.

Akins missed a third straight day of practice Sunday while monitoring a knee injury. The severity of the issue remains unclear, but when healthy, Akins should compete with Harrison Bryant for playing time behind David Njoku. It's never good to miss valuable training camp snaps, but Akins' history with Deshaun Watson should give the tight end some leeway with his new squad.

  • Josh Whyle TE | GB

Titans' Josh Whyle: Slow start to camp

Whyle (undisclosed) has been sidelined from practice since Friday, Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site reports.

The Titans used a fifth-round pick on Whyle in the 2023 NFL Draft, and his length at 6-foot-7 makes him a potentially interesting red-zone option. However, his inability to get on the field early in camp doesn't bode well for his potential opportunity during his rookie campaign. The exact nature of the issue is unclear.

  • Colts' Andrew Ogletree: Present at camp

Ogletree (knee) was seen at camp Saturday and saw first-team offensive reps, Kevin Bowen of 107.5 The Fan Indianapolis reports.

Ogletree, who hadn't participated in any offseason activities following a torn ACL during last year's training camp, seems healthy and was spotted taking first-team reps. Getting on the field is of course a step in the right direction, but there is still work to be done for the 25-year-old, as he is competing for a roster spot against a plethora of tight ends.

  • Cowboys' Luke Schoonmaker: Foot injury seemingly serious

Schoonmaker is dealing with a partial tear to the plantar fasciitis, Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Schoonmaker was placed on the non-football injury list earlier this week with a foot injury that evidently predated the 2023 NFL Draft. The rookie second-round pick suggested this injury was worse than a full tear of the plantar fasciitis, but he still anticipates being able to practice in the coming weeks. In the meantime, Jake Ferguson and Peyton Hendershot will continue to get critical reps in a battle to replace multi-year starter Dalton Schultz, who signed with the Texans this offseason.

  • Jordan Akins TE | JAC

Browns' Jordan Akins: Misses another day

Akins is not participating in Saturday's practice due to an apparent leg injury, Scott Petrak of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram reports.

This marks the second day Akins has been held out to start Browns training camp. The big-bodied target joined the team back in March, reuniting with former Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson, and when healthy will likely push Harrison Bryant for playing time behind starter David Njoku.

  • Jody Fortson TE | KC

Chiefs' Jody Fortson: Suffers shoulder injury in practice

Fortson (shoulder) left practice Friday after sustaining an injury during 11-on-11 drills, Pete Sweeney of ArrowheadPride.com reports.

Fortson came up in pain and grasping his arm after linebacker Cole Christiansen landed on him during an 11-on-11 play. Head coach Andy Reid said Friday that Fortson hurt his shoulder on the play, though the severity of the injury has yet to be confirmed.

Chiefs' Jody Fortson: Suffers arm injury

Fortson (arm) left practice Friday during 11-on-11 team drills, Pete Sweeney of ArrowheadPride.com reports.

Fortson looked to be in serious pain after linebacker Cole Christiansen rolled on top of him during a play. Fortson jogged off the field grasping his right arm and later left the field on a cart. Fortson signed his exclusive-rights tender with the Chiefs in June after spending last season on both special teams and on offense as the No. 3 tight end behind Travis Kelce and Noah Gray.

  • Pat Freiermuth TE | PIT

Steelers' Pat Freiermuth: Good to go

Freiermuth (knee) did team drills Thursday at the first practice of training camp, Jeff Hathhorn of 93.7 The FAN reports.

This come as no surprise given that Freiermuth participated in OTA practices in late May and June. He avoided offseason surgery after suffering MCL and ACL sprains in Week 18 last season, and he's locked in as one of the top receiving threats for second-year quarterback Kenny Pickett.
