  • 49ers' Ricky Pearsall: Expected to play this season

49ers general manager John Lynch said Tuesday that he expects Pearsall (chest/shoulder) to come off the reserve/non-football injury and play at some point this season, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.

Lynch said Pearsall's recovery has been "nothing short of miraculous," as the rookie wide receiver returned to team facilities Tuesday after having been shot during an attempted robbery Saturday. Due to having been placed on the reserve/NFI list on Monday, Pearsall is ruled out for at least the first four games of the regular season, but it appears as though the 2024 first-rounder will suit up at some point in his rookie season.

  • Marquise Brown WR | PHI

Chiefs' Marquise Brown: Will miss season opener

Head coach Andy Reid said Tuesday that Brown (shoulder) has been ruled out for Thursday's season opener against the Ravens, Pete Sweeney of ArrowheadPride.com reports.

Brown has yet to resume practicing since suffering a left sternoclavicular dislocation Aug. 10, and it never appeared that he had a real chance to be available for Week 1. Reid has now made that official, though he noted that Brown's recovery has been encouraging, per Adam Teicher of ESPN.com. Brown's absence will leave opportunities up for grabs behind TE Travis Kelce and top wideout Rashee Rice. Rookie first-round pick Xavier Worthy could be the biggest beneficiary of extra offensive looks, but all of Justin Watson, JuJu Smith-Schuster, Skyy Moore and Mecole Hardman will be candidates to see increased roles to help cover for Brown's absence.

  • 49ers' Ricky Pearsall: Present at team facilities

Pearsall (chest/shoulder) was placed on the reserve/non-football injury list Monday and returned to San Francisco's team facilities Tuesday, David Lombardi of The Athletic reports.

Pearsall managed to rejoin the team in some capacity just two days after Saturday's robbery attempt in which he sustained a gunshot wound to the chest. San Francisco will doubtless take a cautious approach with the rookie first-round pick's recovery, but it's encouraging to see Pearsall already back at the team facilities. Due to his placement on the reserve/NFI list, Pearsall will not be eligible to suit up for the 49ers' first four games of the regular season.

  • Tay Martin WR | DET

Tay Martin: Let go from practice squad

The 49ers cut Martin from the practice squad Tuesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

Martin has spent the last two seasons bouncing between San Francisco's active roster and practice squad, so he could be a candidate to rejoin the team at a later date. He appeared in a total of two games with the team in 2022 and one game in 2023, playing mostly on special teams.

  • Roman Wilson WR | PIT

Steelers' Roman Wilson: Could play in opener

Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin expressed optimism Tuesday that Wilson (ankle) could suit up in Sunday's season opener versus the Falcons, Alan Saunders of SteelersNow.com reports.

Wilson missed most of training camp and all of the preseason while recovering from a left ankle sprain, but the rookie third-round pick out of Michigan looks like he'll be able to practice in some capacity during the upcoming week. The Steelers will likely wait and see how Wilson fares during practice before making a call on his status for Sunday's game, but even if he's active for the opener, he's unlikely to be in store for a major role right out of the gate due to the time he missed over the summer. George Pickens, Van Jefferson and Calvin Austin are listed as the Steelers' three starting receivers on the team's first depth chart of the season that was released Tuesday, with Wilson being listed as Jefferson's backup, per Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com.

  • DJ Chark WR | ATL

Chargers' DJ Chark: Still missing from practice

Chark (hip) wasn't seen at the portion of Monday's practice open to the media, Kris Rhim of ESPN.com reports.

Chark is two weeks removed from an apparent hip injury he suffered in practice, which has kept him sidelined since. The Chargers aren't required to post an injury report until Wednesday ahead of Sunday's contest against the Raiders, but it should provide some clarity on his status. Once he's healthy, Chark will be part of a receiving corps that's led by Joshua Palmer, Ladd McConkey and Quentin Johnston.

  • Cornelius Johnson: Off Bolts' practice squad

The Chargers cut Johnson from their practice squad Monday.

The 2024 seventh-round pick out of Michigan appeared to be sticking around in Los Angeles after failing to make the Chargers' initial 53-man roster in late August, but he's now been dropped. In a corresponding move, the Chargers signed wide receiver Dez Fitzpatrick to their practice squad Monday.

  • Dez Fitzpatrick: Joins Chargers' practice squad

Fitzpatrick signed with the Chargers' practice squad Monday.

Fitzpatrick failed to make the Steelers' initial 53-man roster in late August, but he's found a new home on the Chargers' practice squad. The 26-year-old's last regular-season action came in 2023 with the Steelers, appearing in one game and recording no stats on three special-teams snaps.

  • Seahawks' Tyler Lockett: Intends to be available for opener

Lockett (leg) said Monday that he will play in Sunday's game against the Broncos, Michael-Shawn Dugar of The Athletic reports.

Lockett has been sitting out practice since Aug. 14 due to a leg issue that wasn't considered to be serious by coach Mike Macdonald. On Monday, the veteran wideout relayed that his lack of activity was maintenance related, and he's healthy and ready to go to begin the 2024 campaign. The Seahawks won't post their first injury report until Wednesday, at which point how he's listed will confirm his standing. Prior to racking up 894 receiving yards in 17 regular-season games last year, Lockett had put together four consecutive 1,000-yard campaigns.

  • Easop Winston WR | NYJ

    Easop Winston: Dropped by Seahawks

The Seahawks cut Winston from their practice squad Monday, Brady Henderson of ESPN.com reports.

Winston returned to the Seahawks' practice squad after failing to make the team's initial 53-man roster, but it now appears that Seattle has moved on from the 27-year-old once again. Winston appeared in one regular-season game with the Seahawks in 2023, recording no stats while playing just two total snaps.
