Kirk Cousins QB | LV
Raiders' Kirk Cousins: Named starting quarterback
Coach Klint Kubiak named Cousins the Raiders' starting quarterback Wednesday, Sam Warren of The Athletic reports.
It was a decision everyone expected and comes as no surprise after Cousins worked with the first-team offense all offseason. Cousins played 30 offensive snaps during the preseason and completed 13 of 17 pass attempts for 101 yards and one touchdown, while rookie No. 1 overall pick Fernando Mendoza was more scattershot, completing just 26 of 46 passes for 250 yards, one touchdown and a pair of picks. Cousins should have a somewhat long leash to begin the season, but Mendoza remains very likely to see rookie-year playing time.

Sean Tucker RB | TB
Buccaneers' Sean Tucker: Dealing with minor injury
Tucker (undisclosed) didn't practice Wednesday, Greg Auman of Fox Sports reports.
Coach Todd Bowles said Tucker is dealing with a minor injury. It's unclear if it's an issue that will affect his availability for the Bucs' Week 1 game against the Bengals in 11 days. Tucker is expected to handle RB3 duties behind Bucky Irving and Kenny Gainwell this season. There's a chance Tucker could see some action in short-yardage and goal-line situations. He's an injury away from a substantial role in the Tampa Bay backfield.

Jahmyr Gibbs RB | DET
Lions' Jahmyr Gibbs: Reels off 59-yard run in final camp practice
Gibbs had a strong day in the Lions' final practice of training camp Thursday, most notably running for 59- and 16-yard touchdowns during the session, Tim Twentyman of the team's official site reports.
After being contained on the first two of the first-team offense's eight drives on the day, Gibbs delivered his biggest gain of the day on the Lions' third possession. On the second play of that drive, Gibbs followed a block from right guard Tate Ratledge, then found daylight while bouncing out to the outside and raced past cornerback Avonte Maddox for a 59-yard house call. He then finished practice with his second touchdown of the day, taking a fourth-and-1 pitch to the outside and following a Penei Sewell block to beat multiple defenders to the pylon. The two scoring jaunts were demonstrative of Gibbs' trademark explosiveness in open space, but now that David Montgomery is in Houston, the Lions are likely to turn to Gibbs to add more work to his plate in the form of increased usage in goal-line situations and as a runner on early downs. Detroit signed Isiah Pacheco this offseason with the goal of having him take on some of those functions that Montgomery had handled, but Pacheco won't be available until Week 5 at the earliest while he recovers from a back injury as well as an MCL sprain.

Ollie Gordon II RB | MIA
Dolphins' Ollie Gordon: Practicing in non-contact jersey
Gordon (ribs) is practicing in a non-contact jersey Wednesday, Alain Poupart of SI.com reports.
Gordon was injured in the Dolphins' second preseason game and missed the final exhibition contest last week. Across two preseason appearances, Gordon rushed 11 times for 47 yards and caught one of his two targets for 10 yards. He's competing with Jaylen Wright for the backup role behind De'Von Achane this season.

Jonathon Brooks RB | CAR
Panthers' Jonathon Brooks: Working off to side Wednesday
Brooks (soreness) was working off to the side with a trainer during Wednesday's practice, Mike Kaye of ESPN.com reports.
Brooks has been dealing with some soreness in an undisclosed area for the past couple of days, as coach Dave Canales has been vague when describing the running back's issue. There doesn't seem to be any indication Brooks is in danger of missing Week 1 against the Bears in 11 days, but he's going to need to get back on the practice field next week.

Jameson Williams WR | DET
Lions' Jameson Williams: Stands out in final training camp session
Williams concluded Lions training camp on a positive note Thursday, connecting with quarterback Jared Goff on a number of impressive contested catches throughout the day, Nolan Bianchi of The Detroit News reports.
Touted as a standout performer during the Lions' earlier workouts of the summer, Williams authored another strong performance in a scrimmage-style practice to wrap up camp. On the Lions' opening drive alone, Williams beat cornerback Rock Ya-Sin for a 22-yard gain on the first play of the day, reeled off a 18-yard gain on a screen play to convert a third-and-12 and evaded tight coverage to make a sliding catch on a five-yard pass to the back end of the zone on a fourth-and-goal. Williams recorded another reception on a post route later in the day to convert a third-and-10, but the play was negated by a holding penalty. While No. 1 wideout Amon-Ra St. Brown remains Detroit's clear top target in 2026, Williams should still be in store for reliable weekly volume in a consolidated passing game that also includes Sam LaPorta (hip) and running back Jahmyr Gibbs. Heading into the summer, No. 3 wideout Isaac TeSlaa looked like a potential candidate to carve out a more notable role in his second season, but he didn't record a reception in either of his two preseason appearances and had a number of underwhelming performances during camp practices, according to Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press.

Ashton Jeanty RB | LV
Raiders' Ashton Jeanty: Remains sidelined Wednesday
Jeanty (ankle) remained sidelined at practice Wednesday, Ryan McFadden of ESPN.com reports.
Jeanty worked off to the side with trainers Tuesday, as he attempts to get past an ankle injury suffered Aug. 23. It's believed to be a low-ankle sprain for the second-year running back. Jeanty has 11 more days before the Raiders open the season at home against the Dolphins on Sunday, Sept. 13. He'll likely need to practice in some fashion next week to have a chance to play, otherwise Mike Washington and Dylan Laube would be in line to carry the backfield load for Las Vegas.

Emeka Egbuka WR | TB
Buccaneers' Emeka Egbuka: Works on side field Wednesday
Egbuka (toe) worked on a side field with trainers Wednesday and ran without any obvious issues from the injury, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Egbuka has missed a ton of practice time this summer and didn't see any preseason action. However, it sounds like he's nearing 100 percent ahead of the Bucs' Week 1 game against the Bengals in 11 days. Seeing him return to full practices next week would be a positive development. Egbuka is expected to be a big beneficiary of Mike Evans' departure over the offseason, as he'll have a chance to establish himself as the Bucs' clear WR1 ahead of veteran Chris Godwin.

Jared Goff QB | DET
Lions' Jared Goff: Guides 99-yard drive in final camp practice
Goff closed out training camp on a high note Thursday, notably leading the Lions on a 99-yard touchdown drive during the first series of practice, Tim Twentyman of the team's official site reports.
Head coach Dan Campbell elected to put the offense in a tough spot to begin the final session of training camp, but Goff didn't wilt from the challenge. He found Jameson Williams for a 22-yard gain early on the drive to give the offense some breathing room, then completed five more pass attempts before an incompletion set up a fourth-and-goal from the five-yard line. Goff evaded some pressure on fourth down and connected with a tightly covered Williams in the back of the end zone to wrap up the drive. The 31-year-old quarterback threw for another touchdown later in the session, finding top target Amon-Ra St. Brown for a 16-yard score on the second-to-last drive of the day. While his lack of rushing ability will likely prevent him from emerging as a truly elite fantasy option in 2026, Goff is about as steady of a performer as it gets at the quarterback position, as he's turned in three straight seasons of at least 4,500 passing yards and 30 touchdown passes. The Detroit defense is still looking suspect heading into the upcoming season -- especially in the secondary -- which could result in the offense being involved in frequent shootouts that would enhance the fantasy value of Goff and the team's other skill-position players.

LeQuint Allen RB | JAC
Jaguars' LeQuint Allen: May be GTD for Week 1
Coach Liam Coen suggested Allen (undisclosed) could be a game-time decision for Week 1 against the Browns, Michael DiRocco of ESPN.com reports.
Coen said he'd be "pleasantly surprised" if Allen plays Sunday, Sept. 13, against Cleveland, so it sounds like the running back could be on the wrong side of a questionable tag. If Allen is unable to play, Chris Rodriguez and Bhayshul Tuten (illness) would likely soak up the couple handfuls of snaps Allen would have been in line to play. Allen has extremely minimal fantasy appeal, even in the deepest of leagues.
