  • J.J. McCarthy QB | NYG

Vikings' J.J. McCarthy: Could practice next week

McCarthy (ankle) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Steelers in Dublin, but he could get some limited work in practice next week ahead of Minnesota's Week 5 game in London against the Browns, Ben Goessling of The Minnesota Star Tribune reports.

Though McCarthy may take some on-field reps next week, head coach Kevin O'Connell has suggested that the second-year signal-caller will need to turn in a full week of full practices before being cleared to play. As a result, McCarthy appears likely to miss a third straight game in Week 5 before potentially returning to action following a Week 6 bye. Carson Wentz should continue to direct the Minnesota offense in McCarthy's absence.

  • 49ers' Renardo Green: Absent from practice

Green (neck) is questionable to play Sunday against the Jaguars.

Green was a limited participant at practice Wednesday and Thursday, but he was non-participant at the team's final session of the week Friday. If the cornerback is unable to play Sunday, Darrell Luter would be a top candidate to draw the start in Green's place versus Jacksonville.

  • 49ers' Jordan Watkins: Ruled out for Week 4

Watkins (calf) has been ruled out for Sunday's contest against the Jaguars.

Watkins was unable to practice at all during the week, and he will now be forced to miss a second game in a row due to a calf injury. The wide receiver has yet to make his NFL debut, so his absence should not have an impact in Week 4.

  • 49ers' Deommodore Lenoir: All set for Week 4

Lenoir (illness) was a full participant at practice Friday.

Lenoir was a limited participant at practice Wednesday and Thursday due to an illness, but he will not carry an injury designation into Sunday's contest against the Jaguars after logging a full practice Friday. The cornerback will operate in his starting role in the team's secondary versus Jacksonville.

  • Nick Bosa DE | SF

49ers' Nick Bosa: Undergoes successful surgery

Bosa (knee) underwent surgery to address his torn ACL on Friday, Cam Inman of The San Jose Mercury News reports.

Bosa suffered a torn ACL in his right knee in the team's Week 3 win over the Cardinals, and his surgery Friday "went great," according to head coach Kyle Shanahan. The defensive end will shift his focus to being ready for training camp in 2026.

  • Evan Engram TE | DEN

    Broncos' Evan Engram: Practicing fully

    Engram (back) practiced fully Friday.

A back issue prevented Engram from practicing and playing in Week 3, but following full practices both Thursday and Friday, the tight end is poised to return to action Monday night against the Bengals. With just four catches (on six targets) for 33 yards in his first two games with the Broncos, the early returns on Engram aren't great, but assuming his back injury is no longer an issue, he's a player capable of picking up the pace, as soon as Monday. With that in mind, Zac Stevens of TheDNVR.com relays that Engram indicated Friday that he feels "great" ahead of Week 4 action, while, for his part, offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi told Stevens that he believes Engram will "be getting going here real soon."

  • Dyami Brown WR | WAS

Jaguars' Dyami Brown: Questionable for Sunday

Brown (shoulder) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the 49ers after practicing in a limited fashion Thursday and Friday.

Brown was forced out of the Jaguars' 17-10 win over the Texans in Week 3 after logging 23 snaps and two catches for seven yards on three targets. Overall, he's compiled a 10-116-1 line on 14 targets in three contests, a pace that limits his fantasy utility to deeper formats while working in a WR corps that also includes Brian Thomas, Travis Hunter and Parker Washington.

  • Bhayshul Tuten RB | JAC

Jaguars' Bhayshul Tuten: Cleared from injury report

Tuten (shoulder) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game at San Francisco.

Tuten upgraded to full participation Friday, following limited sessions the previous two days. He played through the same injury last week, and Friday marked his first full practice participation since Week 2. Better health could lead to a few more snaps/touches, but Travis Etienne is still expected to lead the way in Jacksonville's backfield, where LeQuint Allen has been getting most of the third-down snaps.

  • Jay Tufele DT | DET

Jets' Jay Tufele: Full practice Friday

Tufele (illness) was a full participant at practice Friday, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.

Tufele was able to increase from a limited participant Thursday to a full participant Friday, and he now appears to be set to make his return to the field after missing two contests due to an illness. The 26-year-old will be back in his reserve role behind Quinnen Williams and Harrison Phillips on the defensive line against the Dolphins on Monday Night Football.

  • Mac Jones QB | SF

49ers' Mac Jones: Status in question for Week 4

Jones (knee) is listed as questionable for Sunday's contest versus the Jaguars, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.

Jones emerged from a second consecutive start in place of Brock Purdy (left shoulder/toe) this past Sunday against the Cardinals with a sprained PCL in his left knee. It limited Jones in practice Wednesday and Thursday, and his status now is up in the air ahead of Week 4 action. Coach Kyle Shanahan already told Wagoner that Purdy will start this weekend, so Jones will be the No. 2 QB, assuming he's active.
