Simpson agreed to terms on a four-year, $25.4 million rookie contract with the Rams on Saturday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Simpson's contract comes with a $14.9 million signing bonus and a fifth-year option. He was selected by the Rams with the 13th pick of the 2026 NFL Draft as the apparent franchise successor to reigning MVP Matthew Stafford. Simpson isn't guaranteed the backup job and will compete against Stetson Bennett for that job in training camp.

San Francisco general manager John Lynch told reporters Saturday that Aiyuk (knee) will remain on the 49ers' reserve/left squad list, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

Aiyuk is not on the 49ers' 90-man roster as the team opened training camp Saturday. Injuries and off-field issues had Lynch publicly state in January that Aiyuk will never play for the 49ers again, though it's unclear when a move to remove the veteran wide receiver from the team's roster will actually take place. Aiyuk signed a four-year, $120 million contract with the 49ers in August of 2024 but hasn't seen regular-season action since Week 7 of the 2024 campaign after tearing the ACL and MCL in his right knee.

The 49ers placed Kittle (Achilles) on the active/PUP list Saturday, Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Kittle continues to recover from a torn right Achilles that he suffered in the 49ers' NFC playoff win over the Eagles in January. The veteran tight end has been optimistic that he's ahead of schedule in his recovery and will be ready for Week 1 against the Rams on Sept. 10. By being placed on the active/PUP list, Kittle is eligible to participate in practice once he's fully recovered from his injury, but he'll be limited to side work for the time being. If Kittle ends up missing regular-season games, then Jake Tonges (foot) would be in line to serve as the 49ers' TE1.

Nicholson (undisclosed) took part in a workout for the Panthers on Friday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

Nicholson signed with Cleveland as an undrafted free agent this spring but reverted to IR due to an undisclosed issue in late May. He and the Browns ultimately worked out an injury settlement, making Nicholson a free agent. He's presumably now healthy and looking to get an opportunity with another organization.

The Chargers placed World (knee) on the active/non-football injury list Friday, per the NFL's transaction log.

World tore the ACL in his left knee while playing for Oregon in the Peach Bowl against Indiana on Jan. 9. He then went undrafted in April before signing with the Chargers as a free agent. Given the nature of World's injury, there's a strong chance that he won't be ready for the beginning of the regular season, and he could potentially miss most or all of the upcoming campaign.

Proctor (knee) is expected to miss the entire 2026 campaign, Bo Brack of GoPHNX.com reports.

Proctor tore the meniscus in his knee during OTAs and was placed on IR on Wednesday. Coach Mike LaFleur confirmed Friday that Proctor, whom Arizona drafted in the fourth round of April's NFL Draft, isn't going to be able to get back on the field this season. He'll therefore have to wait until 2027 to make his professional debut.

McLellan visited with the Panthers on Thursday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

McLellan suffered an undisclosed injury in November of the 2025 season and failed to make another appearance for the Buccaneers. Should the 27-year-old's workout with Carolina go well, he will likely help with offensive tackle depth after starter Taylor Moton was placed on the active/non-football illness list due to a blood clot.

The Patriots waived Kibble (undisclosed) with an injury designation on Friday, per the NFL's transaction log.

The Patriots announced Kibble will eventually be placed on the team's injured reserve, although he has to pass through waivers first before he can revert to IR. The rookie will have to wait until 2027 for the next opportunity to make his NFL debut.

Prentice was waived by the Panthers on Friday, Darin Gantt of the team's official site reports.

Prentice's time in Carolina has been cut short after signing with the team in early May as an undrafted free agent. As a senior at Baylor last season, the 22-year-old recorded a modest 380 receiving yards, albeit with six touchdowns.

Martin visited with the Eagles on Thursday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

The 23-year-old appears to have overcome an undisclosed injury that caused him to be let go by the Eagles in mid-June after failing to pass a physical. If this visit goes well and Martin gets another shot in Philadelphia, he'd face an uphill battle for a spot on the team's 53-man roster, having played just 34 special-teams snaps last season in Baltimore.
