  • Nate Evans CB | CLE

Browns' Nate Evans: Exits with quadriceps issue

Evans (quadriceps) will not return to Saturday's preseason game against the Bears, Daniel Oyefusi of ESPN.com reports.

Evans logged one solo tackle before his exit. The cornerback's absence is compounded by Michael Coats' (ankle) early exit as well. With Damarri Mathis (undisclosed) and Tyron Herring (undisclosed) already on season-ending injured reserve, a thin cornerback room has just gotten thinner one week into preseason. The Browns will likely look to add a defensive back to the room in the coming days.

  • Browns' Michael Coats: Exits game after pick

Coats (ankle) has been ruled out for the remainder of Saturday's preseason game against the Bears.

Coats picked off Tyson Bagent in the second quarter as the two-minute warning hit. The cornerback put together a strong half of football before the injury, adding two solo tackles to the box score. It is unclear how severe Coats' injury is, but Saturday's performance may have earned him a shot at making the 53-man roster if he can recover from the issue promptly.

  • Bengals' McKinnley Jackson: DNP on Saturday

Jackson (ankle) did not participate in Saturday's practice, Ben Baby of ESPN.com reports.

Jackson suffered an ankle injury in Thursday's preseason opener against the Lions. It is unclear how long the defensive tackle will be out with the issue. If Jackson must miss time, Kris Jenkins could see increased rotational reps in next Saturday's preseason contest against the Bears.

  • Raiders' Brennan Jackson: Placed on injured reserve

The Raiders placed Jackson (undisclosed) on injured reserve Saturday.

Jackson likely sustained an injury in Thursday's preseason opener against the Cardinals. The linebacker logged two solo tackles in the contest. The 25-year-old will now miss the entirety of the 2026 regular season on IR unless he is waived with an injury settlement.

  • Jacob Cowing WR | SF

49ers' Jacob Cowing: Back to practice

Cowing (hip) was a full participant in Saturday's practice, Jennifer Lee Chan of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Cowing suffered a hip injury sometime around last Wednesday's training camp session and has been absent from team activities since. The wide receiver's return to health will give him a chance to compete in next Thursday's preseason showdown with the Chargers. Cowing is currently listed as the starting punt returner for the team, but the 25-year-old will likely need to once again show he is a capable option at receiver to make the 53-man roster.

  • Devin Neal RB | NO

Saints' Devin Neal: Idle for preseason opener

Neal (hamstring) will not play in Saturday's preseason game against the Jaguars, Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reports.

Neal has been working through a hamstring injury that he picked up in practice last week, and he'll join Kendre Miller (back) on the sidelines for Saturday's exhibition game. With both Miller and Neal not playing, the bulk of the rotational backfield reps will go to Ty Chandler, Audric Estime and CJ Donaldson.

  • Saints' Kendre Miller: Not playing Saturday

Miller (back) will not play in Saturday's preseason game against the Jaguars, Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reports.

Miller has been limited in his practice participation due to a back issue. He'll be sidelined for Saturday's preseason opener and will aim to be available for the Saints' second exhibition game on Saturday, Aug. 22 against the Rams. Devin Neal (hamstring) is also sidelined, opening up more rotational backfield reps for Ty Chandler, Audric Estime and CJ Donaldson.

  • Raiders' Folorunso Fatukasi: Signs with Vegas

The Raiders signed Fatukasi to a contract Saturday, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.

Fatukasi worked out with the Giants in late July but waited through training camp to sign with an organization. The veteran defensive tackle now joins the Raiders, looking to provide some depth on the interior defensive line. Fatukasi slots in behind Tonka Hemingway, Benito Jones and Brandon Cleveland. However, he Jets' 2018 sixth-rounder is likely just a preseason addition to bolster the rotation for next Thursday's game against the Texans.

  • Cam Skattebo RB | NYG

Giants' Cam Skattebo: Starts preseason game, takes four carries

Skattebo started Saturday's preseason game against the Vikings, taking four carries for 19 yards over the first two drives.

Tyrone Tracy lined up with the starters in warmups, but Skattebo got the nod come game time and took two carries for seven yards on the first two snaps. Tracy then had a carry and a target (for no gain) later on the opening drive, which ended when his missed block got QB Jaxson Dart thrown to the turf. Dart returned for the second drive, handing off to Devin Singletary on the first two plays. Skattebo then subbed in for carries of five and seven yards on back-to-back plays before giving way to Tracy (and then Singletary) for the rest of the series Dante Miller and Eric Gray then took over backfield work for the rest of the half. Sharing first-team snaps with two other RBs may not seem encouraging for Skattebo's fantasy value, but he did have the best afternoon of the trio in his first game back from major surgery. He'll likely get a larger share of the workload come Week 1.

  • Kaden Wetjen WR | PIT

Steelers' Kaden Wetjen: DNP on Saturday

Wetjen (undisclosed) did not participate in Saturday's practice, Alan Saunders of steelersnow.com reports.

The rookie fourth-rounder likely suffered an injury in Thursday night's preseason opener against the Packers. Wetjen had a massive preseason debut, catching two balls for 79 yards and a touchdown. It is unclear how severe the rookie's injury is, but if he cannot return to action soon, Max Hurleman may see more opportunities with the offense next Friday against the Jets.
