Cole signed a one-year, $3.1 million contract with Utah on Monday, according to Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet. Cole produced two goals, 11 points, 61 PIM, 61 shots on net, 166 blocked shots and 83 hits in 78 regular-season games for Vancouver in 2023-24. Utah has been busy this offseason with defense changes, and Cole will provide some additional depth.

Cole picked up an assist and added two hits in Tuesday's 4-1 loss to the Predators in Game 2. Cole snapped a five-game point drought when he set up a Nikita Zadorov tally in the second period. The 35-year-old Cole is unlikely to produce much offense in the playoffs, but he should be able to maintain a bottom-four role on the blue line. Cole (rest) will not play Thursday in Winnipeg, according to John Lu of TSN. The 35-year-old defenseman will get the final night of the season off to rest for the postseason, which begins this weekend. He had two goals and nine assists with 166 blocked shots in 78 appearances this season. Mark Friedman will likely take Cole's place in the lineup Thursday.

The 35-year-old defenseman is far from a regular contributor on offense, instead, Cole provides physicality in a bottom-four role. He's recorded 11 points, 60 shots on net, 59 PIM, 76 hits and 157 blocked shots through 74 appearances this season.
