  Klingberg will undergo hip surgery and miss the remainder of the season, David Alter of Sports Illustrated reports Wednesday. Klingberg will complete the campaign with five assists, 11 hits and 14 blocks in 14 contests. The 31-year-old defenseman, who has a $4.15 million cap hit, was put on the long-term injured reserve list Nov. 23. He can become an unrestricted free agent this summer.

  Klingberg (hip) has a doctor appointment scheduled for this week in New York to determine the next step in his recovery process, David Alter of Sports Illustrated reports. The Maple Leafs expect to have some clarity on Klingberg's status shortly afterward. The 31-year-old blueliner was placed on long-term injured reserve by Toronto on Thursday. Klingberg has five assists, 14 shots on goal, 14 blocked shots and 11 hits in 14 appearances this season.

  Klingberg (undisclosed) was placed on the long-term injured reserve list Thursday. The move is presumably retroactive to Nov. 11, which is when Klingberg last played. If that's the case, the earliest he can be activated is Dec. 12 for Toronto's game against the Rangers. Klingberg has five assists, 11 hits and 14 blocks in 14 contests this campaign. Conor Timmins (lower body) is day-to-day at this point, so the defenseman might be activated off LTIR soon and play regularly while Klingberg is unavailable.

  Klingberg (undisclosed) has been ruled out of Sunday's tilt in Sweden versus Minnesota, David Alter of Sports Illustrated reports. It's beginning to look like Klingberg is headed to injured reserve, and possibly long-term injured reserve, as his undisclosed injury is not getting any better. The Swedish native practiced for just 10 minutes Saturday before leaving the ice. Klingberg has five assists in 14 games this season.
