Top Stars News

  • Stars' Miro Heiskanen: Will miss rest of regular season

Heiskanen (lower body) has been ruled out for Dallas' final three regular-season games, Robert Tiffin of D Magazine reports Friday.

Heiskanen will complete the regular season with nine goals and 63 points in 77 outings. That's his best showing offensively since 2022-23 (11 goals, 73 points). Dallas is still hoping to get Heiskanen back during the first round of the playoffs. In the meantime, Alex Petrovic might draw into the lineup.

  • Stars' Oskar Back: Manages assist Thursday

Back notched an assist and went plus-2 in Thursday's 5-4 win over the Wild.

Back snapped a five-game point drought with the helper. He hasn't scored a goal in 15 contests, but his bottom-six assignment won't lead to much offense most of the time. Back has earned 12 points, 39 shots on net, 36 blocked shots, 27 hits and a plus-9 rating over 69 appearances this season.

  • Stars' Esa Lindell: Provides two assists

Lindell logged two assists, three shots on goal, two blocked shots, two PIM and a plus-4 rating in Thursday's 5-4 win over the Wild.

Lindell could be poised to handle more minutes in the likely event Miro Heiskanen (lower body) misses time after getting hurt Thursday. The 31-year-old Lindell had gone five games without a point prior to this outing, which was his first multi-point performance since Jan. 12 versus the Kings. With the effort, he reached the 30-point mark on the year, adding 79 shots on net, 172 blocked shots and a plus-29 rating. It's Lindell's highest-scoring year since he had a career-best 32 points in 82 appearances in the 2018-19 regular season.

  • Stars' Cameron Hughes: Earns first career NHL goal

Hughes scored a goal and went plus-2 in Thursday's 5-4 win over the Wild.

Hughes was playing in just his second contest of the season. The 29-year-old forward has been a strong AHL forward for years but hasn't often earned chances to play in the NHL. The goal was the first point of his NHL career. Hughes will likely be with the Stars until the team gets some injured forwards back in the lineup, which could take until the playoffs start.

  • Stars' Colin Blackwell: One of each Thursday

Blackwell scored a goal on two shots, added an assist and went plus-2 in Thursday's 5-4 win over the Wild.

Blackwell was limited to four assists, 18 shots on net, 18 PIM and 39 hits over 18 contests between goals. He earned both points Thursday in the second period, scoring to cut the deficit to 3-2 before setting up Cameron Hughes on the 3-3 goal. Blackwell remains a bottom-six regular for the Stars with four goals, 15 points, 61 shots on net, 111 hits, 36 blocked shots and 38 PIM across 68 appearances.

  • Stars' Jason Robertson: Pots game-winning goal

Robertson scored the game-winning goal in Thursday's 5-4 win over the Wild.

Robertson found the back of the net at the 10:35 mark of the final frame, and his wrister past Filip Gustavsson allowed the Stars to complete the comeback win in a matchup with massive playoff implications for both teams. Robertson continues to play at an extremely high level for the Stars and is up to 92 points (42 goals, 50 assists) in 79 contests. This has been the second-best season of his career from a scoring perspective, only trailing his 109-point campaign from the 2022-23 season.

  • Stars' Mikko Rantanen: Scores clutch goal in win

Rantanen recorded a goal and an assist in Thursday's 5-4 win over the Wild.

Rantanen set up Wyatt Johnston's goal in the first period, and he later came through in the clutch with a deflection that tied the score 4-4 at the 4:28 mark of the third period. Rantanen has played at a high level since returning from a 15-game absence March 28, tallying seven points (two goals, five assists), nine shots on goal, seven hits and three blocked shots in his seven contests since returning to the lineup.

  • Stars' Wyatt Johnston: Goal, assist in win

Johnston recorded a goal, an assist, four PIM, three shots on goal and a plus-2 rating in Thursday's 5-4 win over the Wild.

Johnston built off the two-goal performance he had against the Flames on Tuesday with another strong showing here, breaking the deadlock for Dallas and later assisting on Mikko Rantanen's equalizer in the third period. Johnston has recorded two-point performances in three of his last five games and is up to 21 points (12 goals, nine assists) in his 20 outings since the beginning of March.

  • Stars' Jake Oettinger: Concedes four but earns win

Oettinger stopped 27 of 31 shots in Thursday's 5-4 win over the Wild.

Oettinger was beaten twice in the first period and twice more in the second, although three of those goals came when the Wild had the man advantage. The Stars mounted a late comeback, though, erasing a 3-1 deficit and later scoring twice in the third to complete the turnaround. Despite the win and his 4-1-0 record over his last five appearances, it's hard to get excited about Oettinger's recent performances. During that five-game stretch, the star netminder has posted a 2.79 GAA and an .869 save percentage, and the numbers look even more worrisome when factoring in that he posted a 22-save shutout against the Jets in that stretch. Oettinger and the Stars have a favorable matchup against the Rangers on Saturday.

  • Stars' Roope Hintz: Out for remainder of regular season

Hintz (lower body) is expected to miss the remainder of the regular season and is questionable for Game 1 of the postseason, Lia Assimakopoulos of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Hintz has missed the last 17 games with the injury. He has 15 goals and 29 assists across 53 appearances this season. Once he returns for Stanley Cup playoff action, he should return to his role as a top-two center.

  • Stars' Miro Heiskanen: Doubtful for Saturday

Heiskanen (lower body) is unlikely to play Saturday versus the Rangers, Lia Assimakopoulos of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Heiskanen was unable to finish Thursday's game versus the Wild, and the Stars have no need to rush him back before the playoffs. With Heiskanen out, Thomas Harley is poised for more power-play usage. The Stars have a number of options on the blue line to bring into the lineup.

  • Stars' Emil Hemming: Pockets three points Thursday

Hemming scored a goal and added two assists in OHL Barrie's 4-2 win over Ottawa in Game 1 on Thursday.

Hemming has been excellent in the playoffs so far, earning five goals and seven assists over six contests. The Stars prospect had 15 points over 16 playoff outings a year ago. Hemming is getting a chance to be a big contributor in his final junior campaign, and he'll likely be with AHL Texas for all of 2026-27.

  • Stars' Miro Heiskanen: Hurt in Thursday's game

Heiskanen (lower body) is questionable to return to Thursday's game versus the Wild.

Heiskanen was injured on a check by Ryan Hartman in the first period. The 26-year-old Heiskanen's questionable label is moderately encouraging, but the Stars really don't need to risk further injury for the defensemen, especially in this game against their first-round playoff opponent.

  • Stars' Nils Lundkvist : Won't play Thursday

Lundkvist has been ruled out for Thursday's game against the Wild due to an illness, Lia Assimakopoulos of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Lundkvist hasn't missed a game since mid-December, but he'll be unavailable for at least one matchup due to his illness. It's not yet clear when he'll be able to return, but his next opportunity to do so will be Saturday against the Rangers.

  • Stars' Jake Oettinger: Leaves ice first

Oettinger will defend the home cage versus Minnesota on Thursday, Stars radio analyst Bruce LeVine reports.

Oettinger is having a strong season, despite an .899 save percentage over 51 games. He is 32-12-6 with three shutouts and a 2.61 GAA. He has been hard to beat as far as the Wild are concerned this season, giving up seven goals on 99 shots (.929 save percentage) across three outings. The Wild are tied with Dallas for 10th in NHL scoring, generating 3.29 goals per game.

  • Stars' Tyler Myers: Garners helper in return

Myers notched an assist, two blocked shots and two PIM in Tuesday's 4-3 overtime win over the Flames.

Myers missed the previous three games due to an undisclosed injury. The Stars rolled with seven defensemen, allowing them to manage Myers' minutes -- he saw just 14:30 of ice time. He's at 11 points, 84 shots on net, 80 hits, 108 blocked shots, 46 PIM and a minus-26 rating over 69 outings between the Stars and the Canucks this season.

  • Stars' Justin Hryckowian: Tallies in Tuesday's win

Hryckowian scored a goal in Tuesday's 4-3 overtime win over the Flames.

Hryckowian opened the scoring at 4:30 of the second period. The 25-year-old forward has three goals and an assist over his last nine games, providing some depth scoring from a third-line role. He's at 13 goals, 27 points, 78 shots on net, 114 hits, 43 PIM and 41 blocked shots over 77 appearances in his rookie year.
