Provorov scored his fifth goal of the season late in Sunday's 4-2 win over the Rangers. The goal was just Provorov's fifth of the year. The 27-year-old defender isn't having a career-best campaign by any stretch, but five goals and 26 points through 57 games represent his best offensive production rate since the 2019-20 season. However, he's taking shots at the lowest rate of his career and has a minus-12 rating.

Provorov notched an assist, three shots on goal and two PIM in Saturday's 4-3 win over the Sharks. Provorov required X-rays after Tuesday's game versus the Senators, but he was able to shake off the injury with three days off between games. The defenseman also snapped his nine-game point drought Saturday with a helper on Boone Jenner's game-winning goal late in the third period. Provorov is up to 24 points, 72 shots on net, 99 blocked shots, 44 hits and a minus-13 rating through 53 outings in his first year with the Blue Jackets. His offense is in the same range as most other seasons, though his physicality has dropped in 2023-24.

Provorov will avoid missing any time after getting hurt against the Senators on Thursday. The blueliner should continue to see significant minutes going forward, as he has logged over 22 minutes of ice time in 25 of his 52 games this season. With just eight more points, Provorov will hit the 30-point threshold for the fifth time in his eight-year NHL career.

It's still not clear if Provorov will be available for Saturday's game against San Jose, but seeing him on the ice is an encouraging sign. He has four goals, 23 points, 44 hits and 99 blocks in 52 contests this season. Andrew Peeke will likely draw into the lineup Saturday if Provorov ends up being unavailable.
