    Scott Gomez: Ends NHL career

Scott Gomez announced his retirement Thursday, NHL.com reports. After a 16-year career bouncing around with seven different teams, Gomez has decided to retire as a Senator. The former Calder Trophy winner produced 10 consecutive 45-plus point campaigns between 1999 and 2009, including laying claim to the Stanley Cup twice with New Jersey (2000 and 2003). The prolific centerman finishes his career with 181 goals and 575 assists in 1,079 regular-season games.

Senators' Scott Gomez: Veteran finishes with just nine points

Scott Gomez finished the 2015-16 season with a goal and eight assists in 34 games.Gomez was signed by Ottawa in early March after spending a decent chunk of the season with St. Louis. Unfortunately, the 36-year-old never panned out, picking up just one assist in 13 appearances with the squad, eventually ending his campaign with an undisclosed injury. The veteran should not be on fantasy radars for next year.

Senators' Scott Gomez: Will miss season finale against Bruins

Scott Gomez (undisclosed) will not be in the lineup against Boston on Saturday, Dean Brown of TSN1200 reports. An injury-plagued campaign for Gomez comes to an end without him being able to score a goal in an Ottawa uniform. In fact, in 13 contests with the Ottawa Senators, the journeyman center garnered one measly assist. It could be the end of the road for the 36-year-old, who once netted 84 points in a season, but has seen his production drop off dramatically. If he does return, fantasy owners may want to hold off on utilizing him until he can show he still has something left in the tank.

Senators' Scott Gomez: Will miss game Tuesday

Scott Gomez will be off the depth chart against the Penguins on Tuesday with an undisclosed injury.Gomez has potted just one goal in 21 outings with the Blues this season, adding a pedestrian eight helpers. Since joining the Ottawa Senators, his production has gotten even worse, as the center has garnered a lone assist. With the playoffs out of reach, it's unlikely that the Senators will be affected by Gomez's absence, nor will fantasy owners miss him from their lineups.

Senators' Scott Gomez: Will play against Tampa Bay

Coach Dave Cameron confirmed that Scott Gomez will be in the lineup Thursday against the Lightning, Chris Stevenson of TSN 1200 reports.Gomez will replace Matt Puempel, who will be a healthy scratch for Thursday's matchup. The 36-year-old veteran has spent time on six different teams up until the signing with Ottawa on Wednesday, and while he has had a very nice career, a sudden rejuvenation with the Sens is unlikely.

Senators' Scott Gomez: Signed by Senators

Scott Gomez was signed by Ottawa for the rest of the regular season Wednesday, Dean Brown of TSN1200 reports.Gomez was brought in to replace the injured Kyle Turris (ankle), but would be ineligible for the playoffs if the Ottawa Senators were able to snag a spot. The veteran center played in 21 games for the Blues earlier this season where he garnered one goal and seven assists, but was let go by St. Louis in late December. A fantastic player earlier in his career, the 36-year-old's production has tapered off dramatically.

Blues' Scott Gomez: Placed on unconditional waivers

Scott Gomez has been placed on unconditional waivers.Gomez was waived by the St. Louis Blues on Tuesday and ended up clearing, but evidently assigning the 36-year-old to the minors was not in the cards. "When we went down with all those injuries (early), he was good," Blues coach Ken Hitchcock said Tuesday. "It's not fair for him to come and play a role he's never played before. Hopefully somebody picks him up and he can play a Top-6 or Top-9 role and have that support. With (Kyle) Brodziak back in, and obviously (Patrik) Berglund coming back in, he's a player that would just be waiting for injury and that could sometimes be a long wait."

Blues' Scott Gomez: Clears waivers Wednesday

Scott Gomez has cleared waivers, Renaud Lavoie of Montreal's TVA Sports reports.Gomez was more valuable to the St. Louis Blues early in late October, when a number of forwards were bitten by the injury bug. Of course, even when he was on the ice, Gomez averaged just 11:15 of ice time and that made it difficult for the 36-year-old to retain fantasy value. St. Louis has the option of assigning him to the AHL, but it's worth noting that he's never been placed at that specific level of play.

Scott Gomez has been placed on waivers, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports. The 36-year-old center has tallied just eight points this season, providing select spot minutes for the St. Louis Blues. He could wind up in the minors if no teams put a claim in for his services.

Blues' Scott Gomez: Has two helpers in win

Scott Gomez picked up two assists in the St. Louis Blues 4-0 win over Nashville on Saturday.Gomez is nothing but a role player at this point in his career and will see very little time as either a top six forward or on the power play.
