    Jannik Hansen: Hanging up skates

Jannik Hansen announced that he will retire from hockey Friday, Hockeysverige.se reports.Hansen capped off his hockey career by winning the Gagarin Cup with CSKA Moscow in the KHL. The Dane last played in the NHL in the 2017-18 season, when he logged 14 points over 46 games with the Sharks. After that campaign, Hansen tested the waters of the KHL and found a home with CSKA Moscow, signing a one-year deal that would result in a championship. The 33-year-old spent most of his NHL career in Vancouver, and ends with 109 goals and 147 assists over 626 games.

    Jannik Hansen: Packing for Russia

Jannik Hansen agreed to terms on a one-year deal with CSKA Moscow on Wednesday, AllHockey.ru reports.Hansen spent much of the 2017-18 campaign on the bench for the Sharks, including the team's postseason run. When he was on the ice (46 games), the winger averaged a mere 12:02 of ice time, in which he tallied a pair of goals and 12 helpers. With no NHL deal coming, the 31-year-old will test the waters of the KHL for the first time. Sharks' Jannik Hansen: Spends playoffs in press box

Jannik Hansen was absent from the San Jose Sharks' lineup for the entire postseason.Considering Hansen consistently served as a healthy scratch throughout the year, it shouldn't come as a shock coach Peter Deboer opted not to use him. Even when the winger did dress, he was limited to a mere 12:02 of ice time. The 32-year-old will be an unrestricted free agent July 1 and may try to find a team that will give him a more significant role.

    Sharks' Jannik Hansen: Riding pine

Jannik Hansen was a healthy scratch Sunday during a 4-1 defeat to Winnipeg.Hansen has now been scratched in four of San Jose's last five, but did tally an assist in his only action Friday against Ottawa. The 31-year-old has only mustered four assists in 26 games this season averaging 12:44 of ice time per contest, and currently isn't on pace to match his 20 point total he put up in 2016-17. With San Jose having plenty of depth at both wings, it appears it'll be hard for Hansen to shake the press box consistently save for injuries .

Sharks' Jannik Hansen: Held off scoresheet

Jannik Hansen was held pointless in Saturday's 5-2 loss to Tampa Bay.After struggling to find consistent ice time earlier this season, Hansen's now skated in six of San Jose's last seven games, averaging 13:48 of ice time. However, the 31-year-old has only recorded one point in 2017-18, so he could potentially be in danger of missing the 20-point plateau for the first time since 2009-10.

Sharks' Jannik Hansen: Finally records point

Jannik Hansen pitched in an assist Saturday, but it wasn't enough as the San Jose Sharks lost to the Islanders 5-3 on the road. The Dane is off to an incredibly slow start, as this was his first point in seven games. Hansen is in the final stage of a four-year, $10 million contract originally procured by the Canucks, and we can certainly see him walking as an unrestricted free agent if he continues to stumble with the Sharks.

Sharks' Jannik Hansen: Records second straight multi-point outing

Jannik Hansen scored a goal and chipped in a helper in Thursday's 3-2 loss to Edmonton.Hansen's back-to-back games with a goal and an assist have somewhat been for naught, as the San Jose Sharks have failed to turn his efforts into a victory. Nonetheless, owners will surely appreciate the former Canuck's recent production after he went his first eight games in San Jose with just a single assist.

Sharks' Jannik Hansen: Picks up pair of points

Jannik Hansen scored a goal and chipped in a helper in Tuesday's 5-4 overtime win over the Rangers.Hansen finally found twine in his ninth game as a Shark after being acquired from Vancouver. His 16 points aren't exactly anything to write home about, but the fact he's done that in 37 contests would amount to a 35-point pace over a full season, which would come close to his career-high effort of 39 set back in 2011-12. That said, it'll be interesting to see what he can do in a full season with San Jose next year.

Sharks' Jannik Hansen: Appears ready to rock Friday

Jannik Hansen (undisclosed) is expected to play Friday night in Dallas, Curtis Pashelka of the San Jose Mercury News reports.Barring a setback in warmups, it looks like the Danish winger will slot back into the lineup against the Stars. He's produced only one point (an assist) in six games since arriving from Vancouver at the trade deadline, so fantasy owners shouldn't be expecting much from Hansen either way.

Sharks' Jannik Hansen: Won't suit up Tuesday

Jannik Hansen (undisclosed) won't play Tuesday night's game in Minnesota, but there's still a chance that he could return during the San Jose Sharks' road trip, Curtis Pashelka of the Mercury News reports. This road trip consists of just two more games -- a Friday matchup in Dallas immediately followed by Saturday's game in Nashville. It's not at all guaranteed that Hansen will be ready to go for either of those contests, but most fantasy owners aren't likely to notice, considering that the winger has managed just one point since coming over from Vancouver at the trade deadline.
