  • Marco Kasper C | DET

Red Wings' Marco Kasper: Notches first goal of season

Kasper scored a goal Saturday in a 6-3 win over the Maple Leafs.

It was Kasper's first of the year. He put up 19 goals and 18 assists in 77 games last season. The 21-year-old is centering Patrick Kane and Alex DeBrincat at even strength, and those two have offensive firepower to burn. Kasper is a solid deep league option with plenty of upside.

  • Max Domi C | TOR

Maple Leafs' Max Domi: All over ice Saturday, nets goal

Domi scored a goal in Saturday's 6-3 loss to the Red Wings.

Domi was all over the ice Saturday, especially in the third period. He almost had another goal that would have been on the highlight reels, but he missed the mark. Domi didn't earn his first goal last season until game No. 23, so this type of production is a welcome sign for both the Leafs and fantasy managers. However, his value will be limited if he remains outside of the top six.

  • Maple Leafs' Calle Jarnkrok: Unlikely team leader in goals

Jarnkrok scored a goal Saturday in a 6-3 loss to Detroit.

Nicolas Roy backhanded a rebound across to Jarnkrok, who tapped it across the line early in the first period. It was Jarnkrok's second goal in as many games. It's a nice start for him after he missed all but 19 regular-season games last year. Let him revel in this because he probably won't be the Leafs' leader in goals for long.

  • Nicolas Roy C | COL

Maple Leafs' Nicolas Roy: First points with new team impress

Roy scored a goal and added an assist in a 6-3 loss to Detroit on Saturday.

He showed off his hands on the goal with a waist-high tip past Cam Talbot. Roy also added an assist on a goal by Calle Jarnkrok in the opening frame. Toronto acquired the 28-year-old Roy to occupy the third-line center role. However, his positional versatility (RW/C) means fantasy managers can slot him in on the wing where the field is shallower than down the middle.

  • Maple Leafs' Steven Lorentz: Hurt in Saturday's game

Lorentz (upper body) won't return to Saturday's game versus the Red Wings.

Lorentz was hurt in the first period but wasn't officially deemed out for the rest of the game until just before the third. The 29-year-old can be considered day-to-day until more information is available. The injury casts doubt on Lorentz's availability for Toronto's rematch against Detroit on Monday, which could open the door for Sammy Blais or Easton Cowan to get in the lineup.

  • Mammoth's Barrett Hayton: Out Saturday

Hayton (undisclosed) won't play Saturday versus Nashville.

It will be Hayton's second straight absence to begin the 2025-26 campaign. He had 20 goals and 46 points in 82 outings with Utah last year. The Mammoth are utilizing 11 forwards and seven defensemen for the second straight game, but perhaps that will change once Hayton is available. Olli Maatta is serving as the seventh blueliner Saturday.

  • Pius Suter C | STL

Blues' Pius Suter: First goal with new team

Suter scored a goal Saturday in a 4-2 win over Calgary.

It was a tip-in and his first goal this year. Suter joined the Blues in the offseason after recording the best offensive season of his career. He scored 25 goals and put up 46 points in 81 regular-season games with the Canucks. But temper your expectations -- Suter's 18.1 shooting percentage was unsustainable, and his goal total could be lower this season. Still, it was a nice-looking goal in Saturday's win, and he could be a solid source of depth scoring for the Blues in 2025-26.

  • Blues' Robert Thomas: Shows off sniping skills in win

Thomas scored a goal and added an assist in a 4-2 win over the Flames on Saturday.

His goal was a beauty. Thomas took a pass deep below the left circle, stepped up, wheeled and wired a sharp-angle wrist shot far top corner over Dustin Wolf's glove. It came on the power play; it was his first of the season. Thomas has two consecutive 80-plus point seasons, including strong power-play production. He led the Blues in scoring both years.

  • Jets' Gabriel Vilardi: Serves two apples in win

Vilardi notched two assists, five shots on goal and a plus-1 rating during Saturday's 3-2 win over the Kings.

Vilardi's at an over point-per-game pace to start the season, now up to three assists through two games. The 26-year-old, who signed a big six-year contract extension in the offseason, has seen high usage so far, exceeding 19 minutes and logging over four minutes on the power play in each of his first two games. That bodes well for Vilardi to build on his career-high 61 points from the 2024-25 regular season.

  • Jets' Mark Scheifele: Pots two in win

Scheifele lit the lamp twice on three shots on goal, delivered two hits and had a plus-1 rating during Saturday's 3-2 win against the Kings.

At 32 years old, Scheifele has shown no signs of slowing down as a scorer in the season's opening two games. He was unselfish in the opener, notching three assists Thursday against Dallas, but got some for himself Saturday with a two-goal performance, including the game-winner in the third period. The 15-year veteran is now up to five points on the season.
