  • Stars' Cameron Hughes: Waived by Dallas

Hughes (upper body) was placed on waivers by the Stars on Thursday, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports.

Hughes began the regular season on the injured non-roster list, but his placement on waivers suggests that he's ready to return to game action. Assuming he clears waivers, the 30-year-old will presumably head to AHL Texas.

  • Jared Wright RW | LA

Kings' Jared Wright: Sent down Thursday

Wright was loaned to AHL Ontario on Thursday.

Wright was called up by the Kings last week, and he appeared in three games during his stint with the NHL club. He generated an assist, two blocked shots, two PIM and a hit while averaging 8:41 of ice time, but he'll head back to the minors after Martin Chromiak was recalled Thursday.

  • Sharks' Yaroslav Askarov: Starting against Vancouver

Askarov will start Thursday's home game against the Canucks, Sheng Peng of San Jose Hockey Now reports.

Askarov hasn't gotten much offensive support over the past week and a half, as he's gone 1-2-0 across his last three starts despite posting a 1.68 GAA and .956 save percentage during that time. The Canucks have logged 3.07 goals per game to begin the regular season, which ranks 16th in the NHL.

  • Kevin Fiala LW | LA

Kings' Kevin Fiala: Returns to practice

Fiala (lower leg) was spotted skating in a non-contact jersey at Kings' morning skate Thursday.

Fiala's presence at Thursday's practice is an encouraging sign for the Kings, as he's been sidelined since the 2026 Olympics after fracturing his lower leg in Switzerland's group-stage game against Canada. The 30-year-old winger compiled 18 goals, 40 points and 146 shots on net across 56 regular-season outings in the 2025-26 campaign. It remains to be seen how close he is to returning to the lineup, but when he does, he'll add major offensive firepower for the Kings, who currently rank 27th in the NHL with just 2.55 goals per game to start the season. He's a great player to stash on an IR spot in fantasy for the time being.

  • Maple Leafs' Kirill Marchenko: Shifts to IR

Marchenko (lower body) was placed on injured reserve on Thursday, per David Alter of The Hockey News.

Marchenko exited Monday's 5-2 loss to Calgary with a lower-body injury, and is set to be sidelined for at least two more outings. His move to IR was likely made to free up a roster spot so the Maple Leafs can call up an extra forward prior to Saturday's clash in Vancouver. The 26-year-old forward's absence is a tough loss for the Leafs, as he posted six goals and 14 points across his first 14 appearances with his new squad. His status will be monitored closely next week, but he's an obvious IR-stash candidate in fantasy while sidelined.

  • Oilers' Jason Dickinson: Adds assist in return

Dickinson logged an assist, two shots on goal and four hits in Wednesday's 4-0 win over the Flames.

Dickinson missed the previous six games due to an undisclosed injury. He's already battled a couple of issues early in the campaign, which isn't a positive sign given his physically demanding playing style. He has two helpers, seven hits, three blocked shots, four shots on net and a plus-1 rating over four contests.

  • Joel Hofer G | STL

Blues' Joel Hofer: Between pipes Thursday

Hofer will start Thursday's home game against the Bruins, Lou Korac of NHL.com reports.

After getting the night off Tuesday against Montreal, Hofer will return to the crease Thursday for the fourth time in the Blues' last five games. The 26-year-old has had a somewhat inconsistent start to the regular season, going 4-3-1 with a 2.40 GAA and .917 save percentage.

  • Alex Formenton LW | EDM

Oilers' Alex Formenton: Nets goal Wednesday

Formenton scored a goal in Wednesday's 4-0 win over the Flames.

Formenton had earned just one helper over seven games since his last goal. The 27-year-old winger continues to operate in a third-line role, which could limit his chances on offense. He has five points, 14 shots on net, 37 hits and a plus-2 rating across 13 outings this season.

  • Mathieu Joseph RW | EDM

Oilers' Mathieu Joseph: Tallies in Wednesday's win

Joseph scored a goal on two shots, added three hits, blocked two shots and went plus-2 in Wednesday's 4-0 win over the Flames.

Joseph snapped a three-game drought with the tally. That was his longest dry spell of the season, but with the Oilers closer to healthy than they were at the start of the year, he may find it tough to end up in good scoring situations. He has three goals, three assists, 13 shots on net, 32 hits, 11 blocked shots and a minus-2 rating over 13 appearances.

  • Matt Roy D | WAS

Capitals' Matt Roy: Snags first helper since return

Roy logged an assist, nine hits, two blocked shots and four PIM in Wednesday's 5-2 win over the Flyers.

Roy picked up his first point in five appearances this season. The 31-year-old defenseman missed six games due to a lower-body injury earlier in the campaign. Roy should fill a top-four role while providing decent category coverage for deeper fantasy formats. He has racked up three shots on net, 18 hits, eight blocked shots and four PIM on the year.
