Matvei Gridin RW | CGY
Flames' Matvei Gridin: Records two assists in preseason win
Gridin registered two assists in a 3-1 exhibition win over Vancouver on Tuesday.
Gridin had six goals and 20 points in 37 regular-season outings with Calgary in 2025-26. The 20-year-old is gearing up for his first full NHL campaign, and he's likely to get ample playing time as a member of the top six and first power-play unit. It wouldn't be shocking to see Gridin reach the 50-point milestone in 2026-27.

Dustin Wolf G | CGY
Flames' Dustin Wolf: Handles light workload in preseason win
Wolf stopped eight of nine shots in a 3-1 preseason win over Vancouver on Tuesday.
That's not a typo, and Wolf did play the full game. Vancouver really did manage just nine shots on goal. In defense of the Canucks, they dressed a primarily AHL squad for this exhibition tilt, but that also means it's hard to read much into Wolf's performance. The 25-year-old goaltender had a 23-29-3 record, 3.01 GAA and .899 save percentage in 57 regular-season appearances with the Flames in 2025-26.

Kevin Lankinen G | VAN
Canucks' Kevin Lankinen: Loses Tuesday's preseason game
Lankinen stopped 27 of 30 shots en route to a 3-1 preseason loss to Calgary on Tuesday.
Lankinen had an 11-27-5 record, 3.70 GAA and .875 save percentage in 47 regular-season appearances in 2025-26. It will be difficult for him to do much better this campaign as a member of the rebuilding Canucks. However, Lankinen could start 2026-27 as Vancouver's starting goaltender, while Thatcher Demko (hip) continues to recover from surgery.

Matthew Poitras C | BOS
Bruins' Matthew Poitras: Misses practice
Poitras (undisclosed) missed Wednesday's practice, per Scott McLaughlin of WEEI.
Poitras had 13 goals, 44 points and 48 PIM in 69 regular-season appearances with AHL Providence in 2025-26. He also had a goal in three regular-season outings with Boston last campaign. Provided he's healthy enough to do so, the 22-year-old is likely to begin the upcoming season in the minors.

Mikhail Sergachev D | UTA
Mammoth's Mikhail Sergachev: Gets two helpers in exhibition win
Sergachev registered two assists in a 6-3 exhibition win over Los Angeles on Tuesday.
Sergachev had 10 goals and 59 points in 78 regular-season appearances in 2025-26. That marked his second straight 50-plus-point campaign, and the third time he has reached that milestone in the past four years. The exception was 2023-24 when he was limited to 34 regular-season appearances. Sergachev is expected to be a great source of offense again in 2026-27, especially on the power play.

Darcy Kuemper G | LA
Kings' Darcy Kuemper: Struggles in preseason action
Kuemper turned aside 29 of 34 shots in a 6-3 preseason loss to Utah on Tuesday.
Exhibition action has to be taken with a grain of salt, but it's still not encouraging to see him surrender five goals. Kuemper left plenty to be desired in 2025-26 with a 19-14-15 record, 2.78 GAA and .891 save percentage in 50 regular-season appearances. It's possible he'll bounce back, but he's 36 years old, so at this point, his age is a factor. The presence of Anton Forsberg also means Kuemper has a credible competitor for the top job.

Karel Vejmelka G | UTA
Mammoth's Karel Vejmelka: Gets preseason victory Tuesday
Vejmelka kicked out 19 of 22 shots in a 6-3 exhibition win over Los Angeles on Tuesday.
Utah held a 2-0 lead after 20 minutes, and Vejmelka never allowed the Kings to even the score from there. He had a 38-20-3 record, 2.75 GAA and .896 save percentage in 64 regular-season appearances in 2025-26. Vejmelka's likely to get a heavy workload once again as Utah's No. 1 option in 2026-27.
-
Jaxson Stauber G | UTA
Mammoth's Jaxson Stauber: Placed on waivers
Stauber was put on waivers Wednesday with the intention of reassigning him to AHL Tucson.
Stauber had a 3.07 GAA and an .889 save percentage in 36 regular-season appearances with AHL Tucson in 2025-26. The 27-year-old was never expected to make Utah's Opening Night roster. Karel Vejmelka is set to enter the campaign as Utah's No. 1 option, while Sebastian Cossa is likely to get the backup role.
-
Cameron Hebig C | UTA
Mammoth's Cameron Hebig: Put on waivers
Hebig was placed on waivers Wednesday for the purpose of being assigned to AHL Tucson.
Hebig was part of Utah's initial training camp roster, but he was always a long shot to make the NHL squad. The 29-year-old had 25 goals and 54 points in 68 regular-season appearances with Tucson in 2025-26.

Aleksei Kolosov G | PHI
Flyers' Aleksei Kolosov: Allows four goals in relief
Kolosov turned aside 14 of 18 shots in a 5-1 preseason loss to the Bruins on Tuesday.
Kolosov entered Tuesday's preseason matchup in the first period after Dan Vladar exited due to an upper-body injury. While Kolosov wasn't particularly sharp, he could be Joseph Woll's backup at the start of the regular season if Vladar's injury forces him to miss time. Kolosov made 21 regular-season appearances for the Flyers across the past two seasons, going 5-11-1 with a 3.64 GAA and an .863 save percentage.
