  • Lightning's Jonas Johansson: Formally waived

Johansson has been designated for waivers by the Lightning on Wednesday, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports.

Tampa Bay has been trying to trade Johansson as he no longer fits into the team's plans. He's a well-traveled veteran presence who could still catch on elsewhere as a depth option, but he could begin the 2026-27 campaign in the minors.

  • Avalanche's Christian Wolanin: Waived by Colorado

Wolanin was placed on waivers by the Avalanche on Wednesday, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports.

Wolanin signed a two-way contract with the Avalanche in early July, and he will begin the upcoming campaign in the minors, assuming he clears waivers. The 31-year-old hasn't played in the NHL since making 16 regular-season appearances with Vancouver during the 2022-23 campaign.

  • Ozzy Wiesblatt RW | NSH

Predators' Ozzy Wiesblatt: Lands on waiver list

Wiesblatt has been placed on waivers by Nashville on Wednesday, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports.

A first-round pick who was later traded and signed a two-year, two-way deal with Nashville, Wiesblatt still has more offensive upside than most names on this list. He's worth stashing on watch lists in deeper keeper formats given the pedigree, even if this particular move sends him to the minors for now.

  • Blackhawks' Jordan Greenway: Considered day-to-day

Head coach Jeff Blashill said Wednesday that Greenway tweaked a lower-body injury and is considered day-to-day, Scott Powers of The Athletic reports.

Greenway appeared in Monday's 4-3 overtime win over Minnesota. He may sit out the rest of the exhibition schedule, but it's unclear if he will be available for Tuesday's regular-season opener against the Golden Knights. If Greenway is ready, he'll likely handle a bottom-six role.

  • Golden Knights' Jaycob Megna: Waived Wednesday

Megna was waived by Vegas on Wednesday, per Jesse Granger of The Athletic.

Megna had four goals, 11 points and 33 PIM in 64 regular-season appearances with AHL Henderson in 2025-26. He is also a veteran of 197 career NHL regular-season outings, in which he's collected four goals, 27 points and 77 PIM. Megna is expected to begin 2026-27 in the minors if he clears waivers.

  • Golden Knights' Adam Ginning: Placed on waivers

Ginning was placed on waivers for the purpose of reassignment to AHL Henderson on Wednesday, Jesse Granger of The Athletic reports.

Ginning inked a two-year contract with the Golden Knights in July after playing 42 regular-season games for AHL Lehigh Valley last year. He will presumably spend most of the 2026-27 campaign in the minors.

  • Sabres' Olen Zellweger: Enters concussion protocol

Head coach Lindy Ruff said Wednesday that Zellweger has entered the concussion protocol, Paul Hamilton of WGR Sports Radio 550 reports.

Zellweger suffered a concussion during Tuesday's preseason game against the Blue Jackets and will now be sidelined while he works to clear the league's protocol. It's not yet clear whether Zellweger will be available for the Sabres' Opening Night matchup against Columbus on Oct. 1, but it seems likely that he'll at least be sidelined for the team's final two preseason games.

  • Golden Knights' Jeremy Davies: Waived Wednesday

Davies was put on waivers by Vegas on Wednesday, per Jesse Granger of The Athletic.

Davies had nine goals, 47 points and 74 PIM in 72 regular-season outings with AHL Henderson in 2025-26. The 29-year-old is expected to report to Henderson for the 2026-27 campaign if he clears waivers.

  • Lukas Dostal G | ANA

Ducks' Lukas Dostal: Slated to start Wednesday

Dostal is expected to start at home in Wednesday's preseason game against the Kings, per Zach Cavanagh of The Sporting Tribune.

Dostal had a 30-20-4 record, 3.10 GAA and .888 save percentage over 56 regular-season outings in 2025-26. He also posted a 4-6 record, 2.18 GAA and .922 save percentage across 10 outings in the 2026 playoffs. Dostal is expected to open the campaign as Anaheim's starter, while Ville Husso is likely to serve as his understudy.

  • Sabres' Mattias Samuelsson: Deemed week-to-week

Samuelsson is considered week-to-week due to his lower-body injury, Paul Hamilton of WGR Sports Radio 550 reports Wednesday.

Given his timeline, Samuelsson seems unlikely to be ready to go for Opening Night against the Blue Jackets on Oct. 1. With the blueliner unavailable, Owen Power could see an uptick in power-play opportunities, while Ryan Johnson and Zach Metsa could be in the mix for a spot on the 23-man roster.
