  • Oilers' Connor McDavid: Erupts for five points

McDavid scored twice on nine shots, added three assists and went plus-5 in Saturday's 6-5 overtime win over the Capitals.

McDavid factored on the last two goals of Evan Bouchard's hat trick, then scored a power-play tally and assisted on a Zach Hyman equalizer as the teams traded goals in the third period. McDavid got loose on a breakaway in overtime and took the win for the Oilers with his second tally. Prior to Saturday, he had gone seven games without a goal, though he had seven assists in that span. McDavid is the first player to reach the 90-point mark this season, doing so with 32 goals and 58 helpers over 53 appearances. He has added 38 power-play points, 200 shots on net and a plus-10 rating. Games like this aren't quite routine for McDavid, but he can pull one out of his hat every once in a while.

  • Oilers' Evan Bouchard: Three of each in overtime win

Bouchard scored three goals on eight shots, added three assists, went plus-5 and blocked two shots in Saturday's 6-5 overtime win over the Capitals.

It marked the 24th performance of at least six points by a defenseman in NHL history, and the fourth time an Oilers blueliner has reached that mark. Paul Coffey did it twice, and Kevin Lowe did it once. It was easily the best game of Bouchard's 400 career regular-season outings. He has racked up seven goals and 11 assists over 12 contests in January, and he's up to 14 goals, 55 points, 142 shots on net, 73 blocked shots and a plus-9 rating through 53 appearances this season. Bouchard's defense sometimes gives the Edmonton faithful fits, but games like Saturday are a great reminder of why it's easier to root for him in fantasy.

  • Oilers' Tristan Jarry: Notches win in overtime

Jarry stopped 13 of 15 shots in relief of Connor Ingram in Saturday's 6-5 overtime win over the Capitals.

Jarry came into the game with the Oilers trailing 3-2, and there was plenty more offense to be had on both sides. While Jarry's performance wasn't all that great, he kept things close and benefited from Connor McDavid's winning tally 47 seconds into the extra session. Jarry is 2-2-1 with 14 goals allowed on 113 shots since he returned from a lower-body injury, so he hasn't exactly been providing stability in the crease. The Oilers host the Ducks on Monday, and it's unclear which of the team's three goalies will get the nod for that one.

  • Oilers' Connor Ingram: Pulled from Saturday's start

Ingram stopped nine of 12 shots in Saturday's 6-5 overtime win over the Capitals.

Ingram got the hook during the second period after the Capitals took their first lead on an Anthony Beauvillier goal at 14:29. The 28-year-old Ingram didn't get the loss because the Oilers bounced back to win. He hasn't had many missteps between the pipes while jumping over Calvin Pickard for the No. 2 role. Ingram is at a 5-3-1 record with a 2.40 GAA and a .909 save percentage, but the Oilers may not want to carry three goalies for the rest of the campaign. Ingram would need waivers to get to AHL Bakersfield, as would Pickard, so neither goalie can afford to have too many bad outings in a row while competing for starts behind Tristan Jarry, who collected the win in relief Saturday. The Oilers host the Ducks on Monday.

  • Wild's Joel Eriksson Ek: Tallies on power play

Eriksson Ek scored a power-play goal and added two hits in Saturday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Panthers.

This was Eriksson Ek's second game back after missing six due to a lower-body injury. The 28-year-old has resumed his usual role on the second line and is also back in the power-play mix. The center has earned 12 goals, 33 points, 139 shots on net, 73 hits, 20 blocked shots and a plus-13 rating over 47 appearances. He won't be the Wild's best player, but there's enough talent around him for Eriksson Ek to stay productive on a consistent basis.

  • Matt Boldy LW | MIN

Wild's Matt Boldy: Earns two points in return

Boldy scored a shorthanded goal on three shots and added a power-play assist Saturday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Panthers.

Boldy missed four games due to a lower-body injury. The 24-year-old winger returned with his first multi-point effort since Dec. 29 versus the Golden Knights. Boldy's been quite good when healthy this season, racking up 28 goals, 53 points (16 on the power play, three shorthanded), 160 shots on net, 32 hits, 33 blocked shots and a plus-12 rating over 49 contests. Boldy is four goals away from a new career high, and his career-best 73 points from 82 games in the 2024-25 regular season are well within range.

  • Wild's Kirill Kaprizov: Fifth straight multi-point effort

Kaprizov scored a goal on seven shots, dished an assist, added four PIM, logged two hits and went minus-2 in Saturday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Panthers.

Both points came with the man advantage. Kaprizov logged his fifth multi-point effort in a row (three goals, nine assists), and he has at least one power-play point in each of those games. For the season, the superstar winger is up to 28 goals, 64 points (22 on the power play), 189 shots on net, 31 hits, 18 PIM and a plus-8 rating across 53 appearances.

  • Wild's Filip Gustavsson: Loses in overtime

Gustavsson stopped 30 of 34 shots in Saturday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Panthers.

Gustavsson's three-game winning streak ended due to the return of Brad Marchand, who scored his second goal of the game at 3:00 of overtime. While the results have mostly gone Gustavsson's way lately, he's allowed at least three goals in each of his last six starts. The 27-year-old netminder is at a 17-9-6 record with a 2.62 GAA and a .908 save percentage over 33 appearances this season. Jesper Wallstedt has also struggled recently, making it unclear who will get the nod for Tuesday's home game versus the Blackhawks.

  • Panthers' Carter Verhaeghe: Produces two helpers

Verhaeghe notched two assists, two shots on goal and a plus-2 rating in Saturday's 4-3 overtime win over the Wild.

Verhaeghe helped out on Sam Reinhart's goal 6:44 into the game and also set up Brad Marchand at 3:00 of overtime for the game-winner. This was Verhaeghe's fourth multi-point effort over the last seven games, a span in which he has two goals and seven assists. The winger is up to 38 points (14 goals, 24 helpers), 109 shots on net, 48 hits and a minus-2 rating through 49 appearances, mainly in a top-six role.

  • Panthers' Matthew Tkachuk: Collects two power-play helpers

Tkachuk notched two power-play assists and four shots on goal in Saturday's 4-3 overtime win over the Wild.

Tkachuk now has three helpers over the last two games after going scoreless in his season debut. The 28-year-old winger may need some time to get his scoring touch back, but he'll be given plenty of leeway for that in a top-six role. He's added three hits, eight shots on net, four PIM and a minus-1 rating over three outings so far.
