Hurricanes' Nikolaj Ehlers: Opens scoring on power play

Ehlers tallied a power-play goal and fired five shots on net in Tuesday's 5-2 loss to Montreal.

Ehlers found the back of the net on a power play less than three minutes into the contest. The 30-year-old winger now has 22 goals, 59 points and 178 shots on net through 71 games this season. His first year in Carolina has been a strong campaign for his offensive numbers, as he sits just five points away from setting a new career high. He has excelled in March with seven goals and 15 points across 12 games, making him a strong player to roster in all formats for the remainder of the fantasy playoffs.

  • Jake Evans C | MON

Canadiens' Jake Evans: Deposits empty netter

Evans tallied an empty-net goal and placed two shots on net in Tuesday's 5-2 win over Carolina.

Evans' past two goals have been empty-netters. Overall, the 29-year-old winger is up to 11 goals, 21 points, 67 shots on net, 73 hits and 38 blocked shots across 56 games this season. Tuesday's tally was his first since the end of his six-game point streak, and it ended his five-game point drought.

  • Canadiens' Juraj Slafkovsky: Extends point streak to seven

Slafkovsky scored a goal, supplied an assist, recorded three blocked shots and served two PIM in Tuesday's 5-2 win over the Hurricanes.

Slafkovsky helped the Canadiens both tie the game and take the lead in Tuesday's contest. The 21-year-old winger has racked up five goals and six assists during his seven-game point streak. Overall, he is up to 28 goals, 35 assists, 152 shots on net, 93 hits and 69 blocked shots across 70 games this season. The No. 1 overall selection from the 2022 NHL Entry Draft is emerging into one of the league's best category-coverage forwards.

  • Cole Caufield RW | MON

Canadiens' Cole Caufield: Stays hot with one of each

Caufield tallied a goal, distributed an assist and put two shots on net in Tuesday's 5-2 win over Carolina.

Caufield was dominant across four minutes in the second period, where he scored the game-tying goal before sliding the primary helper on Juraj Slafkovsky's go-ahead tally. Caufield's goal was his 44th of the season, and it helped him extend his point streak to six games. The 25-year-old winger is chasing down Colorado's Nathan MacKinnon in the race for the Rocket Richard Trophy, as Caufield sits just two goals shy of MacKinnon's total of 46. Caufield has cemented himself as a star in the NHL this season with 76 points, 210 shots on net and 47 hits across 69 appearances.

  • Canadiens' Oliver Kapanen: Sparks offense Tuesday

Kapanen scored a goal and placed two shots on net in Tuesday's 5-2 win over the Hurricanes.

Kapanen helped turn the tide with the first goal for the Canadiens, who would tally five consecutive goals to win Tuesday's contest convincingly. With the twine finder, he's up to 21 goals, 35 points, 117 shots on net and 66 blocked shots through 70 games this season. The 22-year-old center is tied for second among rookies in goals, and he firmly leads all first-year forwards with 66 blocked shots. He should provide solid fantasy value in category-based leagues moving forward.

  • Ivan Demidov RW | MON

Canadiens' Ivan Demidov: One of each in win

Demidov scored a goal and recorded an assist in Tuesday's 5-2 win over Carolina.

Demidov picked up the secondary helper on Oliver Kapanen's opening goal for the Canadiens before scoring himself with an unassisted tally late in the third period. The pair of points brought Demidov up to 15 goals, 19 assists, 105 shots on net and 24 blocked shots across 70 games this season. The 20-year-old rookie remains firmly in the Calder Trophy conversation. Demidov has six points over his last eight games and is on pace to finish the season above the 60-point threshold.

  • Jakub Dobes G | MON

Canadiens' Jakub Dobes: Shines in net Tuesday

Dobes turned aside 41 of 43 shots on goal in Tuesday's 5-2 win over the Hurricanes.

Dobes helped the Canadiens rally from a two-goal deficit despite a heavy shot discrepancy. Carolina outshot Montreal by a 43-18 margin in the contest. His performance was just the second outing of his 51-game NHL career, where he made 40-plus saves. With Tuesday's big win, the 24-year-old netminder has a 23-8-4 record, a 2.88 GAA and an .896 save percentage across 35 appearances this season. Since the Olympic break, Dobes has trended in the right direction with a 5-3-0 record, a 2.64 GAA and a .909 save percentage over eight appearances. He's heating up at the right time, making him a strong option for the remainder of the fantasy playoffs.

  • Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Yields four consecutive goals

Andersen stopped 14 of 18 shots on net in Tuesday's 5-2 loss to the Canadiens.

Andersen's solid start to the contest declined over time, and Carolina's 2-0 lead evaporated, as he allowed four consecutive goals between the midway points of the first and third periods. With the loss, the 35-year-old netminder now has a 13-12-5 record, a 3.15 GAA and an .871 save percentage across 30 games this season. The loss snapped his five-game win streak. While the overall stats aren't inside the upper echelon of the league, Andersen has played his best hockey of the season since the Olympic break, making him a solid option in most formats for the remainder of the fantasy playoffs. His next chance to bounce back is Saturday against New Jersey.

  • Ilya Sorokin G | NYI

Islanders' Ilya Sorokin: Stuck with loss in relief

Sorokin entered Tuesday's 4-3 loss to Chicago in relief and allowed one goal on 12 shots after replacing David Rittich.

Sorokin took over the crease in the second period with his team down 3-1. Frank Nazar's tally early in the second frame ended up giving Sorokin the loss. The Islanders' defense has been letting both goalies down in March, as Sorokin has gone 4-5-0 with a 2.74 GAA and .904 save percentage.

  • Islanders' David Rittich: Gets hook in Tuesday's start

Rittich gave up three goals on 12 shots before being replaced by Ilya Sorokin to begin the second period of Tuesday's 4-3 loss to Chicago.

Anders Lee gave the Islanders a 1-0 lead just 49 seconds into the game. However, Rittich's defense let him down after that, allowing clean breaks to Nick Lardis and Ilya Mikheyev. Rittich avoided taking the loss because Sorokin allowed the eventual game-winner. Rittich has struggled during his five appearances in March, going 2-1-0 with a rough 4.13 GAA and .868 save percentage.
