The Angels have optioned pitcher Vinnie Pestano to Triple-A Salt Lake City on Friday. The right-hander owns a 4.22 ERA in 10 2/3 innings. He walked eight and struck out 13 batters over 17 relief appearances this season.
"I haven’t been able to get out of situations very well," Pestano said, per the Orange County Register. "I pride myself on inherited runners and not cashing them in. It’s been awful. It’s disappointing and embarrassing."
The Angels called up infielder/outfielder Efren Navarro to take Pestano's place on the 25-man roster.
