The Athletics released pitcher Pedro Figueroa Friday, clearing a 40-man roster spot for Chris Gimenez.
Figueroa went 3-4 with a 4.10 ERA, 1.52 WHIP and 49:33 K:BB ratio in 59 1/3 innings with Triple-A Sacramento last season while also giving up four earned runs in three innings over five appearances with the A's.
