The Blue Jays have claimed P Tommy Hottovy off waivers from the Rangers, the club announced Thursday.
Hottovy, 30, appeared in nine games for the Royals in 2012, posting a 2.89 ERA and 1.2 K/BB in 9.1 innings. The lefty spent the bulk of the season at Triple-A Omaha in the Royals organization, where he posted a 2.52 ERA in 50 innings. He struck out 61 batters against 16 walks (3.8 K/BB).
Hottovy was dealt to the Rangers for a player to be named later on Nov. 8. The club designated him for assignment on Monday.
