Brewers infielder Elian Herrera was taken off the field in an ambulance cart after colliding with outfielder Shane Peterson in Saturday's game against the Reds, Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Peterson's knee crashed into Herrera as the two players were attempting to run down a bloop fly ball near the foul line, prompting both players to leave the game due to injury. Herrera was transported on a back board and taken to an ambulance cart. Hernan Perez replaced Herrera at third base. More information should be available after the game.
Herrera's X-rays on his injured knee came back negative, Haudricourt adds. Early reports suggest he may have suffered a deep knee contusion, however further testing will probably provide a more conclusive result.
Peterson is suffering from a bruised knee and has at least one laceration on his arm stemming from the collision with Herrera.
