Injury and rehab notes from around the league on a busy Saturday afternoon:
- Outfielder Coco Crisp hurt his left shoulder swinging the bat Friday night, and isn't in Saturday night's lineup for Oakland, tweeted the San Francisco Chronicle's Susan Slusser. Consider him day to day.
- Look for left fielder Carl Crawford to be in the Red Sox's lineup on Monday night, wrote The Boston Globe's Pete Abraham. Crawford will be in the Triple-A Pawtucket lineup Saturday night, will have Sunday off and be activated off the DL on Monday.
- Orioles starting pitcher Jason Hammel was forced to leave his start Friday night after three innings, thanks to discomfort in his right knee, and he'll miss his next start, tweeted MLB.com's Brittany Ghiroli. Hammel had an MRI on his knee, the results of which aren't yet known.
- Baltimore pitcher Brian Matusz is likely to be recalled to start Wednesday night, according to Ghiroli.
- Grady Sizemore's season could be in jeapordy, as his legs haven't responded well to rehab, tweeted ESPN.com's Buster Olney. The Indians haven't ruled a return out, but they aren't getting their hopes up.
- Sizemore is rehabbing from lower back surgery and will be a free agent at the end of the season. He signed a one-year, $5 million contract in late November of last year. Injuries have truly derailed what was once a very promising career.
- Lance Berkman was activated off the DL by the Cardinals on Saturday and should be in the lineup on Sunday, according to MLB.com's Jenifer Langosch. Berkman hasn't played since May 19 because of a knee injury. In 13 games and 42 at-bats, he's batting .333/.429/.571, with a home run and four RBI.
- Berkman won't play back-to-back games for a while, the Cardinals said. He'll split time at first base with Allen Craig and come off the bench.
- The Cardinals optioned outfielder Shane Robinson to Triple-A to make room for Berkman on the 25-man roster.
