Kendrys Morales' magical inning

Angels DH Kendrys Morales hit two homers and had six RBI in one inning Monday night. The switch-hitter hit one homer from each side of the plate.

The Angels put a nine-spot on the Rangers in the top of the sixth inning Monday night. That kind of an inning deserves attention on its own, but designated hitter Kendrys Morales stole the show.

Morales got the six-inning scoring started with a two-run shot off Roy Oswalt. He later came to bat with the bases loaded against Robbie Ross and parked another. Yes, that's two home runs in the same inning, including a grand slam. That's also six RBI in the inning. On top of that, Morales -- a switch-hitter -- hit one homer from each side of the plate.

Here's the historical fallout:

• Morales becomes the first player in the majors to have a six-RBI inning since Juan Uribe did so for the Giants against the Cubs September 23, 2010 (via Bill Plunkett).

• Morales becomes the third player in major-league history to homer from both sides of the plate in the same inning, joining Carlos Baerga and the immortal Mark Bellhorn (via ESPN Stats and Info).
