After losing 5-2 to the Nationals on Wednesday, the Mets made a roster move, calling up catcher Rob Johnson from Triple-A Buffalo, and sending catcher Mike Nickeas the other way, tweeted ESPN's Adam Rubin.

  • Nickeas has struggled this season, posting a .469 OPS in 42 games. 
  • Johnson comes up hitting .207/.253/.335 in 45 games and 164 at-bats with Triple-A Buffalo. 
  • Johnson played 11 games with the Mets in May, and hit .313/.371/.344 in 32 at-bats, with no home runs, one RBI and two runs. 
  • Johnson will likely be behind the plate on Thursday for New York, when Mets prospect Matt Harvey takes the mound. Harvey has noted that Johnson had a very positive influence on him in the minors.
