The big news on Saturday was Tanner Roark of the Nationals, who struck out 15 Twins in seven innings of work -- including a stretch where 11 of his first 13 outs came via strikeouts.
Here's what else happened.
Roster moves
Blue Jays: Recalled Drew Hutchison from and optioned Chad Girodo to Triple-A. Hutchison will make a spot-start on Sunday.
Dodgers: Recalled Zach Lee from Triple-A Oklahoma City; placed Yimi Garia on the 15-day disabled list due to biceps soreness.
Orioles: Placed Yovani Gallardo on the disabled list due to shoulder and bicep tendinitis. Kevin Gausman should replace him in the rotation. In the interim, Brian Matusz was activated from the disabled list.
Rays: Purchased reliever Jhan Marinez's contract. This completed a three-step process that saw Danny Farquhar optioned and Blake Snell recalled then optioned.
Tigers: Claimed catcher John Hicks off waivers from the Twins. Hicks is little more than organizational depth.
Twins: Tyler Duffey will make a spot-start on Sunday in place of Ervin Santana, who will miss his turn in the rotation due to back stiffness.
Injury updates
Blue Jays: Michael Saunders missed a second consecutive game due to a hamstring issue (Arden Zwelling). The injury isn't expected to require a trip to the disabled list.
Diamondbacks: Shelby Miller will make his start on Tuesday (Jesse Sanchez).
Dodgers: Scott Kazmir disclosed he's had soreness in his left wrist and thumb area for more than a month (Ken Gurnick). He's not expected to miss time.
Mariners: Felix Hernandez started on Saturday after missing Friday's game with illness.
Yankees: Aaron Hicks received a cortisone shot for what's being called traumatic bursitis in his shoulder. He's expected to sit out at least four days (Bryan Hoch).

Twins: Joe Mauer used this one weird trick to return to form.
