Injuries mount in Southern California, and more from Tuesday night's action.
- Angels starter Dan Haren has been hampered by a back issue since spring training, and it could force him to the disabled list, or have him miss his next start, reports The Orange County Register's Bill Plunkett. Haren struggled again Tuesday night in Cleveland, taking the loss in a 9-5 game in which he allowed six earned runs.
- The Dodgers have lost reliever Todd Coffey for the year to a torn UCL. Coffey will undergo the second Tommy John surgery of his career, and is hoping the procedure goes as well as it did the first time. "I had Tommy John surgery 12 years ago. That's a pretty good run. I'll be happy if I get another 12 years with this one," Coffey said.

- The Orioles optioned Steve Johnson to Triple-A Norfolk late Tuesday night, to make room for Chris Tillman, who rejoined the club in Seattle and will start Tuesday afternoon against the Mariners. Tillman put up fantastic numbers with Norfolk in June: he was 4-1 with a 2.51 ERA, and struck out 34 batters while walking only five.
- Alfredo Aceves blew his fourth save of the year Tuesday night in Oakland, and "bolted" before speaking with the media, reports Comcast Sports Net's Sean McAdam. After the game, the Red Sox swapped right-handed pitchers, optioning Clayton Mortensen to Triple-A Pawtucket and recalling Justin Germano. Germano will pitch out of the bullpen, for now.
