The Diamondbacks are actively discussing a trade of outfielder Justin Upton, according to FOXSports.com's Ken Rosenthal.

One baseball excutive gave an Upton trade an 80 percent chance of being completed.

The Mets are expected to approach the Diamondbacks about the 25-year-old during this week's GM meetings. Teams like the Braves, Red Sox and Rangers are also known to be searching for outfield help this offseason.

Upton, who is due $38.5 million over the next three seasons, hit .280/.355/.430 with 17 home runs and 18 stolen bases in 628 plate appearances last season.

If Upton is dealt, the Diamondbacks could start Jason Kubel, Adam Eaton and Gerardo Parra in their outfield next season.

With long-term holes at third base and shortstop, the Diamondbacks could be looking at landing a top prospect to fill one of those needs. If so, the Rangers seem like a potential fit, with Mike Olt and Elvis Andrus two potential players who could be the centerpiece of a deal between the two teams.
