Colby Rasmus: Done with baseball
Rasmus is "done and enjoying life," Jon Heyman of FancredSports.com reports.
There hasn't been a formal retirement announcement, but this appears to be as close as we're likely to get from a player who elected to step away from the game in midseason in each of the last two years. Assuming he's done for good this time, Rasmus will end a 10-year career with a .241/.310/.436 slash line, 891 hits and 166 homers.

Orioles' Colby Rasmus: Placed on restricted list
Rasmus was put on the restricted list Tuesday.
Per Jon Meoli of the Baltimore Sun, manager Buck Showalter said that Rasmus told him he was ready to "discontinue his career" and step away from the team. By being placed on the restricted list, he will be removed from the active and 40-man roster. Around a similar time last season, Rasmus landed on the restricted list with Tampa Bay after informing the organization that he would be stepping away from the game. It remains to be seen whether Rasmus will be back with the Orioles this year, as Showalter added that his reasons are private and will not be shared.

Orioles' Colby Rasmus: Sees game action Sunday
Rasmus (illness) entered Sunday's matchup against the Angels as a defensive replacement, Rich Dubroff of PressBoxonline.com reports.
Rasmus was held out of the starting lineup due to an illness, but his condition improved enough to get him into the game. That presumably means he'll be available when the Orioles head to Philadelphia for a two-game series that begins Tuesday.

Orioles' Colby Rasmus: Out sick for series finale
Rasmus is out of the lineup Sunday against the Angels due to an illness, Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports reports.
With Rasmus under the weather, Jace Peterson will pick up a start in right field. The Orioles have an open date on the schedule Monday, so Ramsus will get two full days to recuperate before potentially rejoining the lineup Tuesday in Philadelphia.

Orioles' Colby Rasmus: Out against southpaw
Rasmus is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game against Seattle, Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports reports.
As expected, Rasmus will take a seat with left-hander Wade LeBlanc on the mound for the Mariners. Since returning from the disabled list last week, Rasmus has gone 4-for-17 with one RBI.

Orioles' Colby Rasmus: Out of lineup Tuesday
Rasmus is not starting Tuesday against the Mariners.
Rasmus had started four of five games (all starts coming against righties) since returning from the disabled list with an injured hip, but will sit against the left-handed James Paxton on Tuesday. Righty Danny Valencia starts in right field for the first time this season in his place, having been forced to the outfield by the return of third baseman Tim Beckham (groin). The two players would make a natural platoon in right field going forward.

Orioles' Colby Rasmus: Activated, starting Thursday
Rasmus (hip) was reinstated from the 60-day disabled list and will start Thursday's game against Washington in right field while batting sixth, Jon Meoli of the Baltimore Sun reports.
Rasmus will re-enter the Orioles' lineup after playing in 15 minor-league games since the beginning of June as he worked his way back from left hip flexor strain. The outfielder initially hit the disabled list in early April, so he's only appeared in a handful of big-league contests this season, but it's expected that he will take on a sizable role against right-handed pitching moving forward.

Orioles' Colby Rasmus: Should rejoin club 'shortly'
Orioles manager Buck Showalter said Sunday that Rasmus (hip) will be an option for the big club "shortly," Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports reports.
While the skipper didn't give a target date for Rasmus' return from the 60-day disabled list, the outfielder's 20-day rehab window will end Wednesday, making an activation later this week a good possibility. After going hitless in his first four rehab appearances, Rasmus has caught fire at the plate of late for High-A Frederick, recording 11 hits in 29 at-bats over his last nine contests. Once he's formally reinstated, Rasmus will likely fill the strong side of a platoon in right field.

Orioles' Colby Rasmus: Moves to 60-day disabled list
Rasmus (hip) was transferred to the 60-day disabled list Monday.
The move likely doesn't change Rasmus' timeline too much, as he's already been out more than 60 days. The shift frees up a roster spot for Zach Britton, who returned from the 60-day DL on Monday after recovering from Achilles surgery.

Orioles' Colby Rasmus: Rehabbing at Double-A
Rasmus (hip) is 0-for-6 with a walk and three strikeouts in a pair of minor-league rehab games with Double-A Bowie.
Rasmus, who has been sidelined since April 7 with a hip injury, recently kicked off a rehab stint with the BaySox, marking the final step in his lengthy recovery. It's unclear how many additional rehab games the veteran outfielder will need to appear in before rejoining the Orioles, leaving his possible return date up in the air, but things are trending in the right direction.

Orioles' Colby Rasmus: Might head to Double-A
Rasmus (hip) could be sent to Double-A Bowie this weekend to continue his rehab assignment, Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports reports.
Rasmus has been bothered by a hip injury since being placed on the disabled list April 7, but he'll take a step forward as he figures to face tougher competition at Double-A over the weekend. Although he appears to be on the mend, it's unclear when exactly Rasmus could return to big-league action.

Orioles' Colby Rasmus: Hip still nagging
Manager Buck Showalter said Rasmus' hip is still bothering him, Jon Meoli of The Baltimore Sun reports.
Rasmus has been on the disabled list since April 7 with a hip injury. While he recently returned to game action at extended spring training, he's still feeling some hip discomfort, suggesting his possible return is far from imminent. Craig Gentry and Joey Rickard will continue to pick up starts in the outfield in Rasmus' absence.

Orioles' Colby Rasmus: Picks up at-bats in extended spring training
Rasmus (hip) was able to record a few at-bats during an extended spring training game Thursday, Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports reports.
Rasmus will likely remain in Sarasota a little while longer in order to work his way back into game shape before heading out on a rehab assignment. The outfielder has been on the shelf since April 7 due to a left hip flexor strain.

Orioles' Colby Rasmus: Making progress at extended spring training
Rasmus (hip) is close to playing in games at extended spring training, Rich Dubroff of PressBoxonline.com reports.
Rasmus has been slowly working his way back from a strained left hip, an injury that he had initially been playing through before the Orioles opted to shut him down and send him to the disabled list in early April. The veteran outfielder has been hitting at extended spring training with no issues for most of the month and he is close to returning to game action. Once Rasmus gets up to speed in extended spring training games, he should be cleared to begin a minor-league rehab assignment.

Orioles' Colby Rasmus: Resumes hitting at extended spring
Rasmus (hip) was recently cleared to start hitting at the Orioles' extended spring training facility, Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports reports.
Rasmus has been on the shelf since April 6 with the strained left hip, an injury he had been playing through before the Orioles elected to shut him down following a 2-for-21, 13-strikeout start to the campaign. The veteran's absence has paved the way for Anthony Santander to see more time than expected in right field early on, but the Rule 5 pick probably hasn't performed consistently well enough to retain primary duties at the position once Rasmus is activated. It will be awhile before the Orioles have to make a decision on that front, however, as Rasmus' return from the DL shouldn't be considered imminent until he appears in the outfield for multiple minor-league rehab games.

Orioles' Colby Rasmus: Continues to progress slowly
Rasmus (hip) threw from 120 feet and took part in agility exercises Monday, Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports reports.
Rasmus continues to progress slowly in his recovery process from a hip flexor strain, though it's certainly better than a setback at this point. The veteran is expected to progress to swinging a bat toward the end of the week, meaning he's likely still a week or two away from returning from the DL. Anthony Santander should continue to see regular starts in right field in his stead.

Orioles' Colby Rasmus: Recovering slowly from hip injury
Rasmus (hip) is recovering slowly and isn't expected to return to the Orioles as soon as he's eligible, Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports reports.
Rasmus was placed on the 10-day disabled list with a left hip flexor strain last weekend and won't be ready until the team comes back to Baltimore starting April 20. In his absence, expect to continue seeing Anthony Santander receive a majority of the starts in right field.

Orioles' Colby Rasmus: Undergoes MRI on hip
Rasmus (hip) received an MRI on Tuesday, Jon Meoli of The Baltimore Sun reports.
The Orioles weren't concerned that Rasmus had incurred a setback in his rehab; rather they wanted to confirm their initial estimate that he'd need five-to-eight days for the injury to heal. Although he appears to be progressing as expected, it wouldn't be a surprise if the team was cautious with Rasmus, as a hip injury limited the 31-year-old to just 37 games last season.
