Alex Stumpf@AlexJStumpf1M agoPirates have signed José Urquidy to a one-year, $1.5 million deal, pending physical. Adds depth to staff, he reunites with pitching coach Bill Murphy (who he worked with in Houston) and has minor league options. @WillSammon had it first -
Jason Mackey@JMackeyPG13M agoSource confirms, Pirates have signed RHP Jose Urquidy to a one-year deal for $1.5 million. @WillSammon first. Urquidy, 30, has pitched for the Astros and Tigers but just 2.1 IP past 2 seasons due to right elbow surgery. Solid in 2021-22: 21-11 in 49 G, 48 GS, 3.81 ERA. -

Jason Mackey@JMackeyPG4D agoEugenio Suarez signed with the Reds. What does it mean for the Pirates? Here's what I know: https://t.co/51EiA5ryRI -
Jason Mackey@JMackeyPG4D agoWill be interesting to see where the Pirates go from here. They need another bat. Do they trade for a third baseman or pivot a little and pursue probably the best remaining bat in Marcell Ozuna? -
Jason Mackey@JMackeyPG4D agoI’m told Pirates offered same AAV on Eugenio Suarez ($15 million) were willing to go higher, as well as add another year. Sounds like his choice came down to a better ballpark fit, familiarity and a chance to cash in next year with a big season. -
Alex Stumpf@AlexJStumpf4D agoPirates offered the same AAV for Suarez as what he signed for with the Reds (and were willing to go higher), according to a source. Sounds like Suarez chose a more favorable ballpark and familiarity with Cincy for a prove-it deal
