Jason Mackey@JMackeyPG2D agoFrom 2021-24, Pirates first basemen combined to produce -1.5 fWAR. That's last in MLB and the only negative number. Some others: 1. LAD, 21.5 2. STL, 17.5 15. MIN, 6.9 Easy one for me. 1B should be priority No. 1 this offseason.

Alex Stumpf@AlexJStumpf9D agoThe Pirates have hired Matt Hague as their new hitting coach, per source. Hague joined the Blue Jays as a Minor League hitting coach in 2020 and spent the last year as a major league assistant hitting coach for them.

Alex Stumpf@AlexJStumpf18D agoPirates moves: Dauri Moreta, Johan Oviedo, Hunter Stratton and Endy Rodríguez have been reinstated from the 60-day IL. Ben Heller, Daulton Jefferies and Isaac Mattson have been removed from the roster after clearing waivers. Pirates decline the club option on Marco Gonzales.

Alex Stumpf@AlexJStumpf19D agoPirates utilityman Jared Triolo has won his first Gold Glove. Triolo was worth 7 DRS this season, playing 2B, 3B, SS, 1B and RF. Among NL players w/ at least 300 innings played, he finished first in fielding percentage at third base (.985) and was tied for first at second (.995)
