Red Sox's Aroldis Chapman: Picks up third save Tuesday
Chapman secured his third save Tuesday against the Brewers, allowing a walk in a hitless and scoreless ninth inning.
After taking the loss in his previous outing Saturday against the Padres, Chapman got Luis Matos to fly out on the first pitch of the ninth inning before walking Sal Frelick on four pitches only to get Blake Perkins to ground into a game-ending double play on the first pitch of his at-bat. Chapman is now a perfect 3-for-3 in save chances this season and has a 1.80 ERA and 3:2 K:BB across five innings.

Red Sox's Aroldis Chapman: Takes loss against San Diego
Chapman (0-1) took the loss Saturday against the Padres, allowing one run on two hits with one strikeout across one inning.
With the game tied 2-2 headed into the ninth inning, manager Alex Cora brought on Chapman, but the closer allowed a double to Fernando Tatis followed by an RBI single from Ramon Laureano to give San Diego the 3-2 lead. It's the first run of the year allowed by Chapman, who now owns a 2.25 ERA and 3:1 K:BB across four innings this season. He's 2-for-2 in save chances.

Red Sox's Aroldis Chapman: Secures second save
Chapman earned the save in Friday's 5-2 win over the Padres, allowing no hits and one walk with one strikeout in a scoreless ninth inning.
Chapman was called on to protect a three-run lead and slammed the door despite throwing just 11 of 21 pitches for strikes. The veteran has picked up where he left off after a superb 2025 campaign, tossing three scoreless frames and converting both of his save opportunities to start this season.

Red Sox's Aroldis Chapman: Slams door for first save
Chapman picked up the save Thursday against the Reds, retiring all three batters he faced in the ninth inning.
Although Chapman failed to record a strikeout, he managed to keep the ball in the yard via three flyouts to nail down a save in his first appearance of the campaign. After posting a career-best 1.17 ERA and 0.70 WHIP over 67 regular-season appearances in 2025, the hard-throwing left-hander is locked in as Boston's top closer to begin the season.

Chapman is ready to resume his role as Boston's closer in 2026. The 38-year-old is coming off a stellar 2025, when he converted 32 of 34 save opportunities, lowered a consistently pesky walk rate to a career-low 2.2 BB/9 and was named the AL Reliever of the Year.
