Tigers' Hector Sanchez: Heads to minors
The Tigers reassigned Sanchez to their minor-league camp Tuesday, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.
Detroit is expected to open the season with Grayson Greiner and John Hicks as its top two catchers, so Sanchez never had much of a shot at breaking camp with the big club as a non-roster invitee. The 29-year-old will likely be bound for Triple-A Toledo once the International League gets underway in April.

Tigers' Hector Sanchez: Signs deal with Tigers
Sanchez (concussion) agreed to a minor-league contract with Detroit on Monday, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.
Sanchez was let go by the Giants in June of 2018 after his latest concussion, but he'll be brought aboard by the Tigers and has received an invitation to spring training. Grayson Greiner and John Hicks are the favorites to begin the season as the top two catchers on the big-league team, so Sanchez along with Kade Scivivque and Bobby Wilson appear in line to begin the year at Triple-A Toledo as organizational depth. Sanchez last appeared in the majors during the 2017 season with the Padres, posting a .219/.245/.423 slash line with eight homers and 25 RBI through 75 games.

Hector Sanchez: Released after latest concussion
Sanchez was recently released by the Giants, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Sanchez suffered a concussion in May and later revealed that it was his eighth concussion. Sadly, it seems the 28-year-old's catching days are over, and his playing career may be done as well. He hit .241/.326/.329 in 24 games with Triple-A Sacramento before being released.

Giants' Hector Sanchez: Dealing with concussion
Sanchez was recently placed on the 7-day disabled list at Triple-A Sacramento due to a concussion, Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Sanchez missed time last season due to a concussion and had seen his development stall a bit earlier in his career in part because of head injuries, so expect the Giants to proceed cautiously with the backstop before clearing him to resume working behind the plate. The Giants signed veteran catcher Ryan Hanigan to offer depth for the Triple-A club while Sanchez is sidelined.

Giants' Hector Sanchez: Heads to minor-league camp
Sanchez was cut from major-league camp Monday, Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
After reporting to minor-league camp, Sanchez will likely be assigned to Triple-A Sacramento. Sanchez missed much of the Giants' games this spring as he had to tend to a hamstring injury. With Buster Posey and Nick Hundley poised to serve as the team's catchers this season, Sanchez will provide organizational depth.

Giants' Hector Sanchez: Available Sunday
Sanchez (hamstring) is listed as an available bench player for the Giants in Sunday's Cactus League game against the Rockies, Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Sanchez looks to be reasonably healthy after the hamstring injury had kept him out of Cactus League action since Feb. 28, but his remote chances of winning an Opening Day roster spot are likely dashed at this point. The Giants appear poised to enter the season with Buster Posey and Nick Hundley as their two backstops.

Giants' Hector Sanchez: Sidelined two weeks with hamstring injury
Sanchez will be sidelined for two weeks with a hamstring injury, Andrew Baggarly of The Athletic Bay Area reports.
It's unclear when Sanchez picked up the injury, but an MRI revealed the ailment to be serious enough to require some time off to fully recover. This doesn't affect Sanchez too much, as he's expected to open the season in the minors regardless of his performance in camp with Buster Posey (ankle) and Nick Hundley set to reprise their roles behind the dish in 2018.

Giants' Hector Sanchez: Inks minors pact with Giants
Sanchez agreed to a minor-league deal with the Giants on Thursday, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Sanchez will return to the Giants' organization, where he spent the first nine years of his career before appearing with the White Sox and Padres in 2016 and 2017. Buster Posey and Nick Hundley have the catching duties locked down at the major-league level, so Sanchez will kick things off in the minors in 2018.

Hector Sanchez: Elects free agency
Sanchez cleared waivers and elected to become a free agent Monday.
Sanchez decided to head to free agency after being outrighted off the Padres' 40-man roster. He served primarily as a pinch hitter for the big club last season, slashing .219/.245/.423 in 75 games. Sanchez did manage eight homers in 137 plate appearances, though he'll still likely settle for a minor-league contract.

Padres' Hector Sanchez: Drives in two Saturday
Sanchez started the nightcap of Saturday's doubleheader with the Dodgers, going 1-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored in a 7-2 win.
Sanchez was one of several Padres backups who gained an extra start due to Saturday's twin billing. The 27-year-old backstop has been primarily used as a pinch hitter this season, but he gains daily fantasy appeal when he is in the lineup based on his eight home runs in 121 plate appearances.

Padres' Hector Sanchez: Smacks two-run homer in win
Sanchez went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in Tuesday's win over the Phillies.
A couple errors in the fifth extended the inning, and Sanchez made Philadelphia pay with a two-run homer which put the Padres ahead 8-2. It was his eighth home run of the season. Sanchez was hit in the mask by a foul ball earlier this month and he hasn't played much since, but it would seem he's safely out of the woods with that issue.

Padres' Hector Sanchez: Used as pinch hitter Sunday
Sanchez (head) drew a walk in his only plate appearance as a pinch hitter Sunday against the Pirates.
Sanchez was forced out of Saturday's game after being hit in the mask by a foul ball, but the 27-year-old apparently isn't feeling any lingering effects. He'll continue to serve as the backup to Austin Hedges behind the plate.

Padres' Hector Sanchez: Exits with apparent head injury
Sanchez was removed from Saturday's game in the third inning after he was hit in the mask by a foul ball.
Sanchez went 0-for-2 and was replaced behind the plate by Luis Torrens. He will likely undergo concussion testing in order to yield a more firm diagnosis, though it appears the early exit was a precautionary measure by the team. Saturday's start was his first since July 29, as Austin Hedges has reassumed primary catching duties.

Padres' Hector Sanchez: Heads back to bench role
Sanchez is out of the lineup Sunday against the Pirates, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
With the Padres activating Austin Hedges (concussion) from the 7-day disabled list Sunday and immediately returning him to the lineup, Sanchez's run of regular playing time behind the plate should come to an end. Sanchez has been a useful option in two-catcher leagues for much of July with a .283 average, four home runs and 11 RBI on the month, but his fantasy value will take a substantial hit now that Hedges is healthy again.

Padres' Hector Sanchez: Not in Thursday's lineup
Sanchez is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Mets.
Sanchez will take a seat for the second consecutive game while Luis Torrens makes another start behind the plate. Although Sanchez has been hitting the ball well since the All-Star break, manager Andy Green elected to give Torrens another opportunity after hitting a three-RBI triple during Wednesday's victory.

Padres' Hector Sanchez: Receives breather Wednesday night
Sanchez is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game with the Mets.
Sanchez has been on a tear during his brief tenure as the Padres' primary catcher (1.183 OPS over the past 14 games), but he'll head to the bench for a night off Wednesday. Luis Torrens will replace him behind the plate.

Padres' Hector Sanchez: Stays hot with RBI double
Sanchez went 2-for-4 with a double, an RBI and a run in Sunday's 5-2 win over the Giants.
Sanchez's slugging percentage has ballooned all the way up to .597 in 71 plate appearances thanks to an 11-for-28 stretch with six extra-base hits since July 15. If the catcher keeps hitting like this, it will be hard to take him out of the lineup even when Austin Hedges (concussion) returns from the DL.

Padres' Hector Sanchez: Out of starting nine Saturday
Sanchez is not in the starting lineup for Saturday's tilt with the Giants.
The 27-year-old backstop has been hitting well since taking over for Austin Hedges (concussion) behind the plate, going 8-for-22 with three home runs over his last five starts, but gets the day off after catching all 11 innings in Friday's win. Luis Torrens will fill in at catcher, batting eighth.
