Red Sox's Justin Wilson: Agrees to deal with Boston
The Red Sox signed Wilson to a one-year, $2.25 million contract Thursday, Rob Bradford of WEEI.com reports.
He will have the ability to earn an additional $750,000 in incentives. After missing the 2023 season following Tommy John surgery, Wilson held a 5.59 ERA but a 51:13 K:BB across 46.2 frames for the Reds in 2024. The 37-year-old will give the Red Sox another lefty in the bullpen alongside Brennan Bernardino.

Reds' Justin Wilson: Records save
Wilson retired both batters he faced and recorded his first save in Saturday's 4-3 win over the Cubs.
Lucas Sims was first to get the save opportunity, but he departed after allowing two Cubs to reach base. Enter Wilson, who induced a popout and a groundout to record his first save since September of 2019. Presumably, closer Alexis Diaz was unavailable after having thrown a combined 42 pitches Thursday and Friday. Wilson, who returned from the injured list last week, has a 5.93 ERA over 20 outings (13.2 innings) this season.

Reds' Justin Wilson: Returns from IL
The Reds reinstated Wilson (shoulder) from the 15-day injured list Sunday.
After being placed on the IL on May 17 with left shoulder tightness, Wilson didn't require a minor-league rehab assignment prior to being activated, as the Reds were comfortable enough with how he looked over multiple bullpen sessions to bring him back on the 26-man active roster. Southpaw Alex Young was optioned to Triple-A Louisville to make room in the bullpen for WIlson.

Reds' Justin Wilson: Placed on injured list
The Reds placed Wilson on the 15-day injured list Friday with left shoulder tightness.
Wilson struck out the only batter he faced during Thursday's win over the Dodgers on three pitches, but he is dealing with shoulder problems following the appearance. With the 36-year-old southpaw sidelined for at least the next two weeks, Carson Spiers will come up from Triple-A Louisville to fill the open spot on Cincinnati's pitching staff.

Reds' Justin Wilson: Moves past sore knee
Wilson (knee) has made two relief appearances since exiting early in a 6-4 loss to the Padres on April 30, recording two outs while surrendering four earned runs on four hits and no walks.
After leaving the April 30 game when he took a line drive off his right knee, Wilson was sent in for X-rays, which revealed no major damage. He went unused for the next couple of days before he was summoned out of the bullpen Friday and Tuesday. He struck out the lone batter he faced in Friday's 3-0 loss to Baltimore, but he was bludgeoned for four hits -- including two home runs -- in Tuesday's 6-2 loss to Arizona.

Reds' Justin Wilson: X-rays negative
X-rays on Wilson's right knee came back negative Tuesday, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports.
Wilson made an early exit from his relief appearance in Tuesday's 6-4 loss to the Padres after taking a line drive off the inside of his right knee, but he appears to have escaped the incident without suffering any major damage. He likely won't pitch for a few days as he deals with lingering soreness, but a trip to the injured list doesn't seem necessary.

Reds' Justin Wilson: Exits with knee injury
Wilson was removed from Tuesday's game against the Padres with an apparent knee injury, Gordon Wittenmyer of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
Wilson took a line drive off the inside of his right knee during the eighth inning of Tuesday's contest and was immediately removed from the game. The severity of his injury remains unclear, but the Reds should provide an update once more is known.

Reds' Justin Wilson: Back with Reds on MLB deal
Wilson signed a one-year contract with the Reds on Friday, Robert Murray of FanSided.com reports.
The move appears to be in direct response to Alex Young (back) needing a stint on the injured list to begin the season. Wilson recently opted out of his minor-league deal with the Dodgers after striking out nine and allowing two runs over four spring innings. The 36-year-old last appeared in the majors with the Reds in 2022 before needing Tommy John surgery.

Justin Wilson: Opts out of deal
Wilson opted out of his minor-league contract with the Dodgers on Tuesday, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.
Wilson presumably didn't make the cut for Los Angeles' Opening Day bullpen after giving up two earned runs over four innings this spring, and he will now enter the open market. The 36-year-old lefty hasn't pitched in the majors since undergoing Tommy John surgery in June 2022.

Dodgers' Justin Wilson: Drawing manager's attention
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Saturday that Wilson is one player who has caught his attention in camp, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
Wilson is with the Dodgers on a minor-league contract, so he's not on the 40-man roster and is far from guaranteed to break camp with the big club. However, given Roberts' comments, there's at least a chance that the left-hander hurler could make the Opening Day roster, and he's made his presence known with a 10:1 K:BB over four innings across four spring outings (though he's also given up two runs on five hits). Wilson has had plenty of success in the majors with 18 career saves and 132 career holds, but he hasn't pitched in the big leagues since undergoing Tommy John surgery in June of 2022.

Dodgers' Justin Wilson: Signs as non-roster invitee
Wilson (lat) agreed to a minor-league contract with the Dodgers on Friday that includes an invitation to major-league spring training, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
Wilson was expected to return from Tommy John surgery in the middle of last season but suffered a lat injury just before making his 2023 debut, and he missed the entire campaign. The Brewers wound up declining his $2.5 million club option for 2024. The left-hander last saw significant MLB action with the Reds and Yankees in 2021 with a 5.29 ERA in 42 appearances, and he'll likely fill a lower-leverage role if he earns a spot in the Dodgers' bullpen.

Justin Wilson: Option for 2024 declined
The Brewers declined Wilson's (lat) $2.5 million club option for 2024 on Thursday, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
Wilson gets a $150,000 buyout as he heads into free agency. The 36-year-old left-hander missed the first half of the 2023 campaign while recovering from Tommy John surgery and then suffered a season-ending lat strain just as he was preparing to return in late July.

Brewers' Justin Wilson: Moved to 60-day IL
The Brewers transferred Wilson (lat) from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Monday.
Wilson opened the season on the IL while recovering from Tommy John surgery and was reinstated July 28, only to return to the IL one day later when he was diagnosed with a left lat strain. Manager Craig Counsell confirmed that Wilson's latest injury will keep him out for the season, so the veteran reliever's move to the 60-day IL was merely a formality. Wilson didn't make any appearances with the Brewers during his day-long stay on the active roster and only made five appearances for the Reds in 2022 before getting his elbow surgically repaired. The Brewers hold an affordable $2.5 million team option for Wilson in 2024, but his poor health record the past two years could be enough to dissuade Milwaukee from retaining the soon-to-be 36-year-old southpaw.

Brewers' Justin Wilson: Won't return this season
Manager Craig Counsell said Friday that Wilson (lat) will miss the rest of the 2023 season, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Wilson suffered the lat strain while warming up for his season debut July 29 after recovering from Tommy John surgery, and he won't end up taking the big-league mound this season. The veteran left-hander made just five appearances last year before requiring the elbow procedure, and 2023 is now a lost season. He has a $2.5 million club option for 2024, but the Brewers aren't likely to exercise that option given the circumstances.

Brewers' Justin Wilson: Back on injured list
Wilson was placed on the 15-day injured list Saturday with a left lat strain.
Wilson was reinstated from the 60-day IL on Friday after working his way back from Tommy John surgery, but he suffered another injury in the Brewers' bullpen just moments before he was about to make his season debut. The 35-year-old lefty will be eligible to return beginning Aug. 13, and Trevor Megill will come up from Triple-A to take his spot in the bullpen.

Brewers' Justin Wilson: Returns from IL
The Brewers reinstated Wilson (elbow) from the 60-day injured list Friday.
Wilson has been out of action since undergoing Tommy John surgery in June 2022, but he's now ready to make his debut in the Brewers' bullpen. Wilson made seven rehab appearances in Triple-A, surrendering just one run across 6.1 innings while striking out six batters and walking one. Milwaukee already has a solid setup corps in front of closer Devin Williams, so Wilson's role could be limited to middle relief. Bennett Sousa (shoulder) was transferred to the 60-day injured list in a corresponding move.

Brewers' Justin Wilson: Not activated just yet
Wilson (elbow) rejoined the Brewers on Monday but not been activated from the 60-day injured list yet, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
Wilson cleared his final rehab hurdle in making back-to-back appearances with Triple-A Nashville on Saturday and Sunday. He will rest for a day or two before rejoining Milwaukee's bullpen. Wilson is coming back from last June's Tommy John surgery.
