Adam Warren: Retires from baseball
Warren confirmed to Bryan Hoch of MLB.com Wednesday that he is retired from baseball.
Warren didn't make an appearance from the second half of 2019 through the end of 2020 due to Tommy John surgery and a shoulder issue. He then spent all of 2021 in the minors and didn't pitch anywhere in 2022, so it's not a surprise to hear the 35-year-old is hanging up his cleats. Warren had a nice eight-year career spent mostly with the Yankees, posting a 3.53 ERA while being used predominantly as a reliever.

Yankees' Adam Warren: K's three in minor-league outing
Warren tossed 1.1 scoreless innings for Triple-A Scranton-Wilkes Barre on Wednesday, allowing one hit while striking out three.
In the right-hander's first game appearance since undergoing Tommy John surgery in September of 2019, Warren picked up the win in relief and got three of his four outs by strikeout. The veteran appears to be over the shoulder issue that shut him down in spring training and will continue to try to work his way back to pitching in big-league contests.

Yankees' Adam Warren: Faces hitters
Warren (shoulder) threw live batting practice against hitters at the Yankees' alternate site Tuesday, Conor Foley of The Scranton Times-Tribune reports.
Warren will presumably need to pitch in a few simulated games before he gets the chance to face hitters in a non-controlled setting, but he looks on track to avoid the injured list when the Yankees' Triple-A affiliate in Scranton/Wilkes-Barre opens its season in May. The 33-year-old will likely need to impress in his initial appearances at Triple-A to warrant consideration for a call-up to the big club.

Yankees' Adam Warren: Completes bullpen session
Warren (shoulder) tossed a bullpen session at the Yankees' alternate site Sunday, Conor Foley of The Scranton Times-Tribune reports.
Warren was shut down in mid-March due to a sore right shoulder, ending his bid for breaking camp as a member of New York's bullpen. He seems to be making solid progress in his recovery since spring training concluded, potentially putting him on track to be ready to go when Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre begins its season in May.

Yankees' Adam Warren: Resumes throwing
Warren (shoulder) has been throwing for the past week, Marly Rivera of ESPN.com reports.
Yankees manager Aaron Boone indicated that Warren is doing well in his recovery from a sore right shoulder. The right-hander was assigned to minor-league camp in mid-March, and he's expected to open the season at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Yankees' Adam Warren: Tending to sore shoulder
Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Warren was shut down last week due to a sore right shoulder, Marly Rivera of ESPN.com reports. Warren is expected to remain sidelined for a week before potentially resuming a throwing program.
The Yankees had already reassigned Warren to minor-league camp over the weekend, ending his bid for winning a spot in the club's Opening Day bullpen. Assuming Warren doesn't request his release from the Yankees, he'll turn his focus to getting healthy in advance of Triple-A Scranton-Wilkes Barre's season, which begins in May.

Yankees' Adam Warren: Assigned to minor-league camp
Warren was assigned to minor-league camp Friday.
Warren joined the Yankees on a minor-league deal in December, looking to get back to the big leagues following Tommy John surgery in September of 2019. He won't make the Opening Day roster, but he could still fill a bullpen role at some point if he looks healthy and effective in the minors.

Yankees' Adam Warren: Back to full health
Warren indicated that he is fully healthy heading into spring training, Brendan Kuty of NJ Advance Media reports.
Warren last pitched in 2019 as a member of the Padres, posting a 5.34 ERA over 28.2 innings. He underwent Tommy John surgery in September that year and has been working his way back since. Warren was among a group of Yankees pitchers who threw a bullpen session at the team's first workout Thursday, and he stated that his fastball is hitting the high-80s -- not far from the low-90s area he has settled into during the late stages of his career. Warren is in camp as a non-roster invitee, but he has a legitimate chance of making the Opening Day roster with a strong spring.

Yankees' Adam Warren: Back with Yankees
Warren (elbow) signed a minor-league deal with the Yankees on Tuesday, Brendan Kuty of The Newark Star-Ledger reports.
Warren underwent Tommy John surgery back in September of 2019 but is expected to be ready to go for the start of the upcoming season. The Yankees released him from a previous minor-league deal back in July but evidently are happy to keep him a part of the organization. The 33-year-old righty owns a career 3.53 ERA in 492.1 big-league innings, so he should have a good shot at a bullpen role if he can prove he's back to his pre-injury form.

Adam Warren: Released by Yankees
Warren was released by the Yankees on Friday.
Warren was unlikely to pitch in 2020 after undergoing Tommy John surgery in September, but he was released from his minor-league contract Friday. The 32-year-old has posted a 3.27 ERA and 1.15 WHIP over 118 relief appearances in the majors over the past three seasons, but his results have steadily declined over that span. General manager Brian Cashman indicated Friday that the Yankees hope to re-sign Warren during the offseason, Jack Curry of YES Network reports.

Yankees' Adam Warren: Gets two-year minors deal
Warren's (elbow) minor-league deal he signed with the Yankees on Monday will last through the 2021 season, Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports.
Warren underwent Tommy John surgery in September, so he's unlikely to pitch at any point in 2020. His appearance-based initiatives will take effect in the 2021 season.

Yankees' Adam Warren: Back with Yankees
Warren (elbow) signed a minor-league deal with the Yankees on Monday, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports.
Warren returns to New York for his third stint with the Yankees' organization. There was a report from The Athletic that Warren underwent Tommy John surgery in September, but his contract includes incentives for making at least 30 appearances in the big leagues, which would be impossible had he had the procedure, so it's possible that previous report was incorrect. He can opt out of the deal if he's not on a major-league roster Aug. 28.

Adam Warren: Will become free agent
Warren (elbow) will not have his 2020 option picked up by the Padres and will become a free agent, Emily Waldon of The Athletic reports.
The 32-year-old underwent Tommy John surgery in early September, so the Padres' decision is not entirely surprising as Warren could miss most or all of 2020. In 25 appearances last season, the middle reliever recorded a 5.34 ERA with a 1.40 WHIP over 28.2 innings pitched.

Padres' Adam Warren: Transferred to 60-day injured list
Warren (forearm) was transferred to the 60-day injured list Sunday.
Warren hasn't pitched since June 7 and was placed on the 10-day injured list a day later. There has been little word on his progress towards a return, though he will now be first eligible to return to the mound Aug. 7.

Padres' Adam Warren: Heading to injured list
Warren was placed on the 10-day injured list Friday with a right forearm strain.
Warren apparently sustained the injury Friday when he allowed one run over two scoreless frames, an appearance which included a hit batter and a wild pitch. The severity of the injury remains unclear, but the 31-year-old will be eligible to return June 18.

Padres' Adam Warren: Earns win Friday
Warren (4-1) pitched two innings in Friday's 5-4 victory over the Nationals. He allowed one run on one hit and received the win.
The reliever has had a rocky season with a 5.34 ERA and 1.40 WHIP through 25 appearances in his first year with San Diego. He has recorded three holds and struck out 25 batters in 28.2 innings.

Padres' Adam Warren: Signs with Friars
Warren signed a one-year deal with the Padres on Friday that includes a club option for 2020, Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
Warren started 2018 with the Yankees but was traded to the Mariners in July, and compiled a 3.14 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 52:20 K:BB across 51.2 innings for the season. The 31-year-old seems likely to start out in a middle-relief role in San Diego, but according to Emily Waldon of The Athletic, the deal includes performances bonuses that would trigger if he's used as a starter, so the club could be planning to try him out in that role. Warren's last start in the majors came in 2016 with the Cubs, and was his lone start over 58 appearances that season.
