Buddy Baumann: Let go by O's
The Orioles released Baumann on Wednesday, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.
The 34-year-old southpaw linked up with the Orioles on a minor-league deal March 7, but after he served up three earned runs over 1.1 innings across three Grapefruit League appearances, the organization elected to part ways with him. Baumann, who last appeared in the majors in 2018, previously announced his retirement in 2019 before reviving his career after a two-year hiatus. Now a free agent again, Baumann will have to settle for a minor-league deal with another organization if he wants to keep playing.

The Mets needed to clear a spot on their active and 40-man rosters for the return of Anthony Swarzak, and Baumann was the choice to go. This move isn't all too surprising, as the 30-year-old allowed a whopping eight runs across three innings for the Mets this season. He'll now be subjected to waivers.

Mets' Buddy Baumann: Brought back to majors
Baumann was recalled from Triple-A Las Vegas on Wednesday.
Baumann will join the Mets to offer a fresh arm out of the bullpen after starter Steven Matz (finger) lasted just three innings during Tuesday's loss to the Braves. The 30-year-old has allowed eight runs (five earned) across 2.1 big-league innings between the Padres and Mets this season, so he'll be limited to low-leverage situations during his time in the majors.

Mets' Buddy Baumann: To join Mets on Friday
Baumann will be recalled from Triple-A Las Vegas on Friday, Matt Ehalt of The Record reports.
With Hansel Robles headed to the disabled list (knee), Baumann will take his spot on the active roster ahead of Friday's series opener in Philadelphia. Mets' Buddy Baumann: Plucked by Mets
Baumann was claimed off waivers by the Mets on Friday.
The southpaw was designated for assignment by the Padres on Tuesday, but it didn't take him long to find a new organization. Baumann will report to Triple-A Las Vegas to start, but given that the Mets only have one other left-handed pitcher on the active roster, he could find his way to New York sooner rather than later. David Wright (shoulder) was transferred to the 60-day disabled list to clear a 40-man roster spot for Baumann.

At this point, there has been no word as to whether Baumann will appeal the suspension, but since the 30-year-old was optioned to Triple-A El Paso on Thursday, he won't be able to serve the sentence until he's back with the major-league club in the future. Padres' Buddy Baumann: Vying for MLB bullpen role
Baumann is in the mix for one of the Padres' final bullpen slots, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports.
The 30-year-old has little big-league experience to his name despite his age. That said, he performed well during a 17.2-frame stint in San Diego last season, producing a 2.55 ERA with a 21:7 K:BB. Baumann seems to have a leg up on the host of competitors at this point due to his late-season success in 2017, but he'll still need to put together a strong Cactus League showing to prove his previous campaign wasn't just a fluke.
